Name: Nycole Kave
Occupation: Professional Hip Hop Dancer/Pop Artist
Zodiac Sign: Aries

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do for a living?
MY NAME IS NYCOLE! Nycole Kave. I started my career at age 14 as a model/dancer and at age 17 started dancing professionally. I grew up in Long Island and when I was in high school I would teach dance after school and then jump on the LIRR to go dance on MTV’s “Direct Effect” three days a week. I eventually got signed to one of the top dance agencies in the U.S. it’s called BLOC (shout out to Bloc NY) and have since done commercial/print/movies/backup dancing and choreography for a lot of artist and companies. Eventually I started feeling unfulfilled dancing backup for other people. I knew I loved dance but it wasn’t all I was good for. So I started taking vocal lessons and working with a few producers and then one day I was auditioning for an artist Bayje, who’s on Atlantic Records, and I met her manager Mike Warner. He was impressed by my dance and it ended there. A few months later he found me on myspace, I told him I was also a singer and he called a meeting, I sang for him and since then we’ve been working together. He sees my vision and gives me a lot of space to be creative. So now I’m putting all of the auditioning to the side because it’s time for me to move to the next stage of my life. Music.
What is it that inspired you to be a professional dancer and singer?
Honestly being a kid and discovering you can do something special is inspiring on its own. I was never good at sports but I could always pick up the dance routines in videos and I learned at a very young age I could even write music. One day in elementary school I was playing around with my keyboard and came up with a catchy melody and wrote a new school song. My chorus teacher suggested I present it to the principle and she loved it. We wound up singing it at all the assemblies and even at my graduation as the schools anthem. I think they continued to use the song after I graduated…now that I think about it I probably should’ve gotten that copy written
. And even sometimes I would put on Janet Jackson and just start making up my own choreography in the mirror…I don’t know where the moves were coming from but they would jus come out of my body. I loved how my talent made me feel and I knew at a young age I wanted to entertain for a living.
We hear you have a single out, tell us about this song? “PARTY ALL THE TIME!!” Well Eddie Murphy did the original version of the song and one day I was listening to it and just got inspired to flip it. I called my manager Mike Warner and was like we gotta do this song over. He produced it, made it more hip and I changed all of the melodies and me and my good friend Amina from the group Black Buddafly wrote it and it came out crazy. It’s getting more buzz than I even expected. But it’s definitely a hot record.
Is an album dropping soon? In time. Right now I’m trying to make sure I get the right backing. I’m currently looking for a deal…but definitely on a label that can handle my freshness.
What is it that distinguishes you from other artists? My music is the product of all the things that make me unique. I come from a very diverse background so my personality and style is edgy yet relatable to all kinds of people. They say my high school; Lawrence High was the most diverse school in Long Island. So I had friends listening to Britney Spears and a boyfriend who listened to nothing but Rap. But I loved it all. My brother used to have a band so there was always rock and instruments being played around the house and then my dad loves classical R&B so I would wake up Sunday mornings to him blasting Al Green and Motown Legends. Whether you like rock/pop/or hip-hop you’re going to love my music because I have a little of each in me.
Which artists and producers would you love to work with in the future? Hmm…I’d love to collaborate with so many people but at the moment I’m just focusing on my project. There are so many producers on my wish list for ‘08. The big names of course, Will.I.AM, Pharrell, Swizz Beats and then there are a few up and coming producers that I think are really think are dope like the Fisticuffs and Calvo Da Gr8. All I need is a hot beat and I can take it from there.
Allthatsfab is based here in New York, knowing that you are from the Big Apple, tell us what is your favorite thing to do in the city? PARTY! Hahaa NEW YORK is the city that never sleeps! There is always something going on here, “Monday thru Sunday.” Going out and dancing all night with my friends and then hitting up a diner around 5am for some chicken strips with ranch dressing is all I need for a perfect night. Oh or dollar pizza on 41st and 9th Ave they STAY OPEN ALL NT. Do not sleep on dollar pizza their pizza is DELICIOUS! (Tourist stay away from Rays!).
Who are the 3 best performers (singers/dancers) in your opinion? In my opinion I’d have to say James Brown of course. I’d say most of the greats I grew up on were inspired by him. Then there is Ms. Beyonce Knowles. I gotta give it to anyone who does choreography and SINGS LIVE! There are a lot of great entertainers out now but they usually lip sing. And my last choice, (don’t laugh) Souljah Boy. Yes, Souljah boy! That boy has so much energy on stage it’s insane. I saw a youtube video of him performing in like Japan and he had the entire arena in sync doing the dance and singing all of the lyrics. I love feel good artist. People argue he’s not a real artist but he’s making these kids feel good and that’s what most important for the future generation.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In a place where the world can see me and be inspired by my music.
Anything you’d like to add? Any shout outs? Just for everyone out there to continue supporting real talent. Watch out for me this year and go check out my music page www.myspace.com/NycoleKave. Thank you for the interview.
