This mogul in the making has quickly become one of my favorite people here in New York. When he’s not throwing some of the hottest private industry events in NY, he’s telling the world who is hot in hip hop…. and we listen. Let’s get to know about this writer, event planner, manager, and all around great guy…

1.) Tell us a little bit about yourself and what it is you do for a living:

I am the music editor for AllHipHop.com and I am the VP of business development for Wai Big Media Group. AllHipHop.com is the world’s largest urban music site in the world. Anything related to Rap music wise goes through me.

Wai Big Media Group is a company I started with my partners in 2002. We provide branding opportunities, digital media marketing, product development, management services, and special event coordination with heavy focus in the New York and Los Angeles markets. Some of our current and previous clients include SONGS Publishing, PONY, Garbege Clothing, Redbull Energy Drinks, Whiteboy Clothing, Hollywood Life Magazine, Monster Drinks, BORU Vodka, Vitamin Water, and The Avenue Report Magazine.

2.) How did you get started in your career?

Actually I started very young in the music industry. I took my first internship at the Warner Music Group in 1995 when I was fifteen years old and never blinked since then. I have since held down various sales and marketing positions at BMG, SONY, etc. Lastly I was the Director of Sales & Marketing at Latin music label Coalition Music Group which is distributed through Universal Motown.

3.) Are you single or taken?

I am happily engaged and set to be married later this year.

4.) If you were about to go on a blind date, and you had to describe yourself to that person, what would you tell them?

Physically I’m 6′2, 230 with a solid chest and arms on lay a way. In regards to my character I’m smart but eccentric at the same time; also very serious about my work. I’m easy going, friendly and loyal to my family, friends and my team.

5.) Describe your ideal woman:

My fiancé is it.

6.) We’re sure that you get approached a lot by women. What is the craziest thing that a woman has done to get your attention?

Funny thing is I really don’t get approached by much women, on the other side I’m so oblivious to stuff like that and here’s a good example of it. There was one incident back in the day where I was at a lounge with a good friend of mine. At the time I was smoking these fancy cigarettes and you could still smoke inside of clubs, etc.

Mind you these cigs were really expensive and I had already given out like five. This female comes up to me and asks me for one and I told her these were not mine and I was holding them for a friend that was coming later. She kept came back to me asking for the cigarette and I kept telling her no. By the end of the night she was mad saucy and came yelling at me and I flipped out right back at her, security swooped down upon me real spicily and pulled me out of there. Come to find out she didn’t even smoke and she was just trying to stir up a conversation.

7.) What is the quickest way for a woman to get dismissed by you?

A couple of things:

• I’m not with women with big hands or feet; it’s not cute no matter how pretty they are.
• Conceitedness; that conceited girl swag has been played out since the mid 90’s. Stop it.
• No sense of humor; I have a slick mouth and a crazy sense of humor so I need that reciprocated. Thanks.
• Most importantly if I don’t feel comfortable enough to open up and be myself around them then no time for her. Thankfully I’ve learned that over years of trial and error.

8.) What is something that no one knows about you?

I understand how this life runs. All things happen for a reason; everything is what it is meant to be. Don’t question why things are, just be. It took me a minute to synch, but once I did everything slowed down for me and now can I see a lot of things heading my direction before they manifest.

9.) What do you do to chill out and relax?

Playing chess, watching programming like the History Channel or Food Network that involves me learning something. Outside of the house, I love drinking champagne (Extra Dry, Brut, or Extra Brut) and smoking cigars. That’s my real twist.

10.) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

At an all time high in both my personal life and professional life. I want to own different properties and be able to splurge here and there. I want to build WBM to a point where we are situated with office space and staff in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. I know we will have a hand in launching a very noteworthy and thus profitable online related brand that will give us that added muscle to branch out and take things to where they are destined to be.

11.) Any closing words, shout outs, etc.?

Don’t dream about goals and getting places, live it and breathe it. Step to the door at success like you are on the VIP list whether your name is on there or not.
