I recently finished reading a book called “Cherry Bomb: The Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Better Flirt, a Tougher Chick, and a Hotter Girlfriend, and to Living Life Like a Rock Star”, by celebrity journalist, Carrie Borzillo Vrenna. With a catchy title like that, it seemed only right that I checked it out.
“Cherry Bomb” is basically an A-Z lifestyle reference guide for everything that an “it girl” needs to know, from tips on clubbing, fashion, getting backstage at concerts, dancing, and even waxing. Super fabulous celebrities such as fashion designers Betsey Johnson and Anna Sui, singer Katy Perry, burlesque master, Dita Von Teese and more contributed to this book by offering their advice on “all things cool”.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, there are several aspects of it that I, (being an “urban”, hip hop influenced female rather than the “rocker chick” that this book is geared towards,) couldn’t really identify with, such as some of the lifestyle tips and even some of the songs and artists mentioned. I mean let’s face it, different types of people have different ideas of what’s fabulous and what’s not. However, there are a lot of chapters in the book that I thought were cute, funny, and right on point.
Case in point, the A-Z guide to clubbing, which is definitely All That’s Fab approved.
Act Cool
Bouncers have the power to bounce you outta the club. Be nice and polite to them.
Club vs. Bar. Rockers like bars. Actors and models like clubs.
Dance with your girlfriends.
Exit gracefully. Don’t stumble out of the club drunk, puking or pulling a chicks hair, unless you don’t mind a video of it showing up on TMZ or YouTube.
Frolic with friends you trust. Never go to a club alone or only with a frienemy. Nothing is worse than being left at a club because your “friend” ditched you for a dude.
Guest lists. Try to get on one. If you work in the industry at all, call the club promoter or rep and ask nicely.
Hide your stare under your hair. A well-tipped hate or glasses will also do when you don’t want to get caught staring at a celeb or hottie from across the room.
Impress with your dress. Find out the dress code before going out and coordinate with pals…
I’m not going to spoil the whole chapter for you. To get more tips, check out “Cherry Bomb” for yourself!

I havn’t read the boo kyet but i can’t wait to get my hands on it. It’s almost sounds like a girls guide to life, and i think that it’s really handy. Does any one know where i can get my hands on an excerpt from this book so i can get an idea of what i’m getting into before i read it?!!!!
