Now the Last Dragon is one of my favorite movies, so they better not mess it up. I just caught word that Rihanna is being considered for the role of Laura orignally played by Vanity. I love me some Rihanna but she is not an actress. I saw her in Bring It In: All or Nothing, and she did bad playing herself…The movie is being produced by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and Samuel L. Jackson. Rihanna is RZA’s choice for the lead female role.
“That’s the one I’m rooting for,” RZA said of Rihanna. “We’re keeping that same concept of the girl being in the music business.”
There are too many struggling actresses out here, for them to choose the Good Girl, Gone bad…

They need to find an undiscovered Appalonia/Vanity look a like and call it a day. Rihanna is fierce, but I don’t see her in this movie.

Bad idea! This is as bad them remaking the movie Fame. Leave the classics alone! Rihanna, an actress? No way! This is a sad day in entertainment; we have lost our creativity to come up with original stories.
Leave the originals alone! I don’t think this remake will ork. No doubt that Samuel Jackson could play Sho nuff, but Rihanna in Apollonia’s role? No thanks.
It wasn’t apollonia’s role.It was Vanity who I don’t think anyone can touch,but if they are going to remake it & I wish it well than I think it’s going to take more than someone who looks like the characters to pull it off.It needs people who will capture the personalities of the original characters like CORBIN BLUE of highschool musical for Leroy.Bow Wow as his younger brother.Christina milian as vanity or TATYANA ALI from the fresh prince,Keisha knight who played the younger sister in the original,Stacy Dash or possible beyonce or Halle Berry.Snoop,Samuel or Busta will be fine as shonuff.Vivica as mama green or Queen latifah but again CORBIN is the only dude who can capture leroys personality & look.
I think Samuel L. Jackson can maintain the classic integrity *hopefully*

No singer-turned-actresses though, there are plenty of actresses who could play Vanity’s role, like Aura said.

I THINK MEAGAN GOOD WOULD BE BETTER FOR THE ROLE SHE IS MORE OF A GIRLY GIRL , AND SAMUEL IS A GOOD CHOCE JUST DONT KNOW IF HE WOULD BE PHYSICALL ENOUGH BUT THE LEROY CHARACTER SHOULD BE ACTOR BRIAN WHITE HE HAS THE SAME LOOK AS TAIMAK AND HE IS IN GOOD SHAPE !
