Upon seeing this headline, I was immediately bombarded with frightening images of ridiculously corny Wayne Brady skits. The soundtrack to my horrific experience was a cheesy compilation of Christmas carols equipped with improv comedy interludes. But Brian McKnight’s new show, announced earlier by the CW Plus won’t have anything to do with sketch comedy. Whew.

It’s a one hour weekly component of the network’s Fall ‘09 lineup and will feature celebrity appearances and live performances. Although I have little faith in McKnight’s abilities as a talk show host, I hope this turns into one of those Ray J complexes where you say you hate the show but you can quote entire episodes and you know exactly which heffa is only tryna play him out so she can be the next Aubrey O’Day. Don’t let us down Brian. You broke our hearts when you stopped singing for us and frankly, I think we’ve suffered enough.

Other stations signed on for the series include New York’s WPIX-TV. For more information visit The Futon Critic

Brian is a true talent. I believe his show will go far because he attracts an audience of all ages both male and female. I have seen him in concert and he is simply amazing and all about pleasing his audience. I would also LOVE to be an audience member on his show. Any one know yet how to get tickets?
