This weeks ATF Sunday Throwback is Rihanna’s debut single Pon De Replay. It feels like it was so long ago when this video came out. I was feeling Teairra Marie more at this time, but you see how that turned out. I love how much she has changed since she broke out on the music scene. She was so channeling Beyonce throughout this video. Rihanna had to be studying Baby Boy in her dressing room before filming. She was so sweet and cute back then, now she got guns tatted on her body! Rih’s moves are authentic because that was her culture. I don’t think anyone was even thinking about Beyonce as far as the video goes. Appearance wise, possibly, but dance moves and concept…Nah. You’re giving Bey too much credit here.

Who in the world said Beyonce was channeling Rihanna? That comment was just REDICULOUS because Beyonce was at the top of the music game WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY before Rihanna was every known about….so take that 1 back…I had liked Rihanna WAAAAYYYYY more back then….now she just annoys me with her wannabe rocker self….i really don’t like her now but always loves Beyonce cuz she’s the true artist that every1 loves to love and loves to hate, and thats what makes her the biggest music star of our generation and ya’ll know it.
@Mo17 I made that comment, and will not take it back. And its spelled Ridiculous, not “Rediculous”. What’s ridiculous is that people are saying Rihanna was biting Beyonce in this video when she was just portraying what comes naturally being that she’s from Barbados, an island that my dad’s side of the family is from. If anything, Beyonce was taking inspiration from people from the islands in that “Baby Boy” video, which is why she brought on Sean Paul, who’s from Jamaica, and is why she is changing her accent up when she sings the chorus.
