Earlier this week I attended the R&B Live sponsored by Power 105.1. The event had performances from Day 26, Mario, Charlie Wilson, Pleasure P, Young Steff, Ginuwine, and many others. There was a GREAT turn out, but that is not a shock. I am such a fan of some of these artist, that I made it my duty to be up in BB Kings. I was really impressed by the acts that hit the stage at BB Kings. After the last Power Live, i didn’t think I would attend another show. I was really surprised with how organized it was this time. It was pouring outside in NYC, so I expected it to be crazy, but I was truly proven wrong. I was also just glad I got to be in VIP, because I feel bad for everyone who was on the floor because it was pretty crowded.
The first to hit the stage was Young Steff, I have heard about him from a few industry folks, but this was the first time I got to see and hear him. YS reminds me a lot of Trey Songz mixed with Chris Brown. He comes off very hood but at the same time sweet. He can also dance his little behind off. I do think he should cut his pony tail off, he needs to get on his grown and sexy lol..Overall the boy was dope, and I suggest you all google him..
The next to hit the stage was Pleasure P. I was actually feeling his performance, but I did like him better in Pretty Ricky to be honest. He really needs to step his vocal game up and learn how to not be on stage for an eternity. He sang some of his new songs and he even did some old Pretty Ricky joints. It seemed like everyone was ready for him to get off stage, especially a popular morning show host here in NYC (LOL).
Now when Day 26 finally hit the stage I made my way right to the front of VIP. They were the reason I came, them boys can blow. They are truly slept on because of all that “Making The Band” crap. They put on a damn good show, and the crowd was feeling them BIG TIME. The girls were going crazy over Willie and Que, and you could so tell they were loving it…Their album is so dope, and it is the direction they needed to go in. I like to hear a mixture of R&B and club tracks on one album, and they delivered that. If you haven’t got their album, please go get it.
Soon after Day 26 were done I decided to roll out, but I did stay to see Charlie Wilson. That’s an OG right there! It seemed like everyone was feeling his performance, he is truly did give birth to R.Kelly and a lot of these other vocalist. All in All the show was really good, I got to see a lot of old faces from Power 105.1, it’s always good to be around them.
