Beyonce has to be one of the most praised, envied, and hated women on the planet. It seems like everyone has something to say about her in one way shape of form. Nia Long even joined the bandwagon, which is shocking because no one has heard from her in years.
“If you’re a singer not an actress, you should sing. If you’re a rapper, you should rap,” “If you take time to develop your craft, God bless you. Jamie Foxx is an example of both [actor and singer].”

“I didn’t see ‘Obsessed,’ so I can’t comment, but it’s just not about how talented you are anymore. It’s about, ‘How much box-office revenue will this person generate?’ When you see certain people – we won’t name names – they just don’t have the skill, and no one in their team has said, ‘You need acting classes,’”

“If you were able to take all the Black actresses and the choices we’ve made collectively, it’s a pure reflection of what you see on film. People need to work. But the content? The opportunities for Black actresses are more widespread today, but the quality has suffered.”

Beyonce and I are from the same city, H-Town, so I will always hold her down!!

black ppl can never support one another
stop hatin nia
She’s not hating, she’s just speaking her mind. She just used Beyonce’s name to prove a point.
Beyonce can’t act, but she did executive produce “Obsessed” so you have to give her props. Nia Long, go executive produce your own projects and stop crying.
Go sit your Love Jones/Best Man ass down, and worry about your drug dealer baby father in Detroit Nia.
Beyonce is a sexy talented and successful woman, Nia is talented with that said: we can’t have it all. Yes Nia spoke her mind but she did not have to point B out like that. I’m tired of Sisters hatin but at the end of the day one’s hate is anothers fuel to get even better and stronger. u betta Do it B
lol
Anytime you have a chance to expand your horizons, do so. Life is short and only happens once. Congradulations and hats off to anyone who gets the chance to live their dream!
The real read is that Bey has to Exec Produce that movie to be in it. Hollywood isn’t really barking up her tree at all. It is all about opportunity and NOT talent unfortunately. Yes Bey can sing but NO she can’t act!
And the reason anyboyd really hates her is because of her evil a$$ father. That Man is EVIL!
Nia is right to say what she did. You can be a Beyonce fan without dissing anyone who opposes something she’s done. Nia Long had a franchise series with “are we there yet”. She was in “love jones” “best man” friday” “soul food” which are staples in the black community and Obsessed WAS horrible and that was Beyonce’s fault in a major way with her unadjusted accent and her being lost on who her character was , and the chemistry with Idris Elba was nonexistent. Nia’s played the girlfriend and wife well. She’s talented but they hand singers the role . Why?
People expect athlete’s to train. Let a young player come in and not train, skip sessions. They will not be respected as serious athletes. Let a dancer not take classes, but then actor’s get “oh it’s just acting”. Chris Brown bragged “oh I never took any classes, nope” like you’re good though? Have you played a different character yet?
Nia Long doesn’t have to hating or bitter to say the truth.
She’s right, it isn’t about talent.
And if you had posted the whole article instead of the quote, you would have seen that the person asked her about Beyonce. She didn’t just bring her name up out of thin air.
executive produce just means financed, and not added any creative input towards the look/plot of the film.
I think Nia is hatin big time. I love Nia but be honest she hasnt done anything in a while and i think is jelous of beyonce’s spotlight. y cnt we all jus be happy that a black film went big and if u think it was bad then help in the black community dnt put it down
Eventhough Nia long is talented so is Beyonce, and if Nia got somethin to say why dont she do half the things Beyonce did if she gna complain bout it. and why black people always gotta put eachother down. she need to shut the hell up.
all nia is saying is back then when you read for a part they would give it to the most talented person, now if you have a clothing line, a record deal, perfume, etc. and you decided that one morning you want to be an actor, and to all the others who trained years and years and went to school to become great at what they do it is an insult to their craft, all she is saying is take what ever you do to the next level, when beyonce gets a new song and has to learn new dance moves she goes to class (well that was i would think) and study and learn and rehease and practice but by her acting it just seems like she went on set and start reading her lines
man whatever, i know beyonce could care less if people hate her…she got her thang goin on so i know she dont care…plus if your hated, that aint nothin but jealously cause half of the people who “hates” her wanna be just like her.I love beyonce (no homo)..she stuntin us..she know she got fans who still love her
SHES AMAZING.
LEAVE HER ALONE.
STOP HATING BEYONCE.
SHES STUNNIN.
PLUS, SHE HAS MORE FANS THAN HATERS!
i love beyonce’s music, i have almost everything she’s done. i love nia long. with that being said, nia was right. most singers are thrown or jump into acting, meaning they just assume they can do it. well as beyonce has shown, that’s just not true. acting classes won’t hurt, and she’s not the only singer turned actress that needs those classes
First Nia never mentioned Beyonce’s name. She has every right to express what MANY black actresses by craft feel; that there are not enough roles anyway for black actresses and then on top of that many singers/rapper/reality stars decide they want to act just to get another “notch” on their belt when they may not necessarily have a passion for it. And this can be very frustrating for black actresses who do have a passion for acting, work to develop their crafts and still have a hard time finding roles. That is a reality people…its not some made up fairy tale. So I understand Nia’s frustration.
However on the other hand I am not going to hate on Beyonce (even though I do not think Nia was. People give their honest opinion about something and all of a sudden its “hating”. Do people even think about what that means before they throw those accusations out there) because she is a talented successful black woman and for that alone I give her props.
