VH1’s Hip Hop Honors awards show went down last night, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records, and hip hop royalty (both old school and new school), definitely represented…at least with the performances. However, the looks on the red carpet were a bit ummm….interesting. Check out some stand outs when you read the rest.

Eve rocked it. She looks cute and effortless.

Ashanti…

Ashanti rocked an interesting outfit backstage as well. *blank stare*

Chrisette Michele

Foxy…just…no. There’s too much going on here.
Sigh…we can’t. We won’t even get into the guys. We’ve had enough of the mess. Let’s just hope the performances were better than the red carpet.
According to Rap Up, the show went down like this.
• The Roots, Eminem, and DJ Jazzy Jeff opened with LL Cool J’s “Rock the Bells.”
• Ja Rule and Ashanti reunited on stage to perform “Down for You” and “Always on Time.”
• DMX collaborated with Gym Class Heroes on his 1999 hit “Party Up.”
• Ludacris and Scarface represented for the South with “Guess Who’s Back” and “Southern Hospitality.”
• Mary J. Blige and Method Man reminisced over “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By.”
• Dressed as LL Cool J, Rick Ross took the stage to perform “Hustlin’.”
• Trey Songz filled in for Nate Dogg by performing “Regulate” with Warren G.
• Gym Class Heroes, Wale, and KRS-One covered the Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep Till Brooklyn.”
• Foxy Brown and Fabolous closed the show as part of an all-star medley.
This definitely sounds like something that is not to be missed!
VH1 Hip Hop Honors will air Tuesday, October 13, at 9 p.m. EST/PST.

excusssseee me ashanti looked nice to me but i wasnt feeling the performance outfit
Huuhhhh!! *sighs* *thinks* *sighs again* *takes a deep breathe* Ashanti, Ashanti, ashanti. You are a fashion wreck, Fashion no no, fashion dont. Basically you and fashion dont belong in the same sentence. Who is your stylist? Better yet, do you even have a stylist? *sighs again* You are too beautiful for this mess Ashanti. Your face is stunning, body is bananas (best annoying ass Ashanti voice). Why?
Eve- looks effortlessly beautiful. Stunning! Minus the tattoos.
Chrisette- thats my girl.
Foxy- foxy we know your money is scarce these days, but really, do you have to let it be known by looking a hot mess?
I dont think Ill be tuning in for this.
LOL
With Ashanti, her outfit would look cute on someone else, but I feel she was trying too hard. With the performance outfit, I don’t even know what to say about that.
I really want to give Ashanti props because she is such a pretty girl and she seems so nice, but she keeps letting me down.
Ashanti’s performance outfit was cute, gotta change up sometime. Red carpet style she had was nice as well, keeping it simple. Love the hairstyle she rockin’! Do ya thang Shanti!
For the rest of the peeps Eve…she rocked it, lookin’ fab! Chrisette MicheleN pretty dress, it fits her style. Foxy no comment.
ashanti has never been a style icon, but if you’ve pay attention to her shoe game since the beginning– they’ve ALWAYS been on point. as far as foxy is concerned, LOL ….. she should have stayed home.
They all look BUSTED! EXCEPT my girl EVEwho always look FLAWLESS!!!
