It looks as though someone is finally speaking out against the racism that a lot of high profile NYC nightclubs serve up to African American patrons. According to the NYPost:
A $1 billion class-action suit has been filed against a SoHo nightclub that allegedly turned guests away from a book party because they’re black.
In papers filed in Bronx Supreme Court, Kashan Robinson — who is from The Bronx — and Maria Sicard say they were two of about 100 people who were denied entry to a Teri Woods book party at Greenhouse because of their race.
Robinson, Sicard and others on the guest list were kept waiting outside the Varick Street nightspot while white patrons were “allowed entry into the un-crowded club,” the suit claims.
“As far as I know, everyone who was on [Woods'] guest list was not allowed in,” said their lawyer, John Nonnenmacher.
The suit says club officials had agreed to host the party for the author of “True to the Game,” but got cold feet when most of her guests turned out to be African-American.
Crazy. We were just at Greenhouse the other night for a listening party. We’ve never experienced racism there before, unlike at some other clubs, but this definitely isn’t surprising.

I just called the club. I was told that it wasn’t the management that made the decision to not let them in, it was the doorman. He evidentally doesn’t let a lot of people in. I was also told a lot of clubs in NYC do this all the time and it’s to be expected. Sounds like BS to me.
fasion boy, This ish is still rampant all over our country!
I experienced the same racism as I watched me as well as many other black folks who had been invited for the urbanworld film festival after party (we had badges and all)..be turn away after waiting an hour..as I saw most of the white guest of urban world had no problem getting in..and they were not at all fashionable people.. Me myself working in the fashion industry,as well as a handful of my fashionable friends were just dismissed even as we told them we were there for the urban world event..and when I asked others who were there for the same reason..they told me they’d been in line for over an hour
My friends band was playing there, I had been invited to come see them perform. When The Greenhouse had realized that fans of the band were of mixed genders, races, sexual orientations, and many colorful different looks.. The club told the band that the band could play but the friends and fans could not enter. The band refused to play. I can not believe we live in a world with this racisim and closed minded HATE! Especially to still have this happen in SOHO of all places. It makes me very sad, I hope justice is served.. If they are going to continue being ignorant, then maybe they should shut down all together.
I have to say, I’ve experienced this before but never at Greenhouse. HOWEVER I go there on Sunday nights to the Vandam party which is also very gay and has an all around mixed crowd. It is my opinion and experience that it is the bouncers and the girls with the lists who decide as Greenhouse is different on every night.
Well maybe you guys shouldn’t act like apes.
We experienced exactly what Teri’s guests did. Our performer was scheduled to perform at Greenhouse. Dozens of her guests were told they would not be allowed in because they did not meet the dress code. NOTE: These were stylists and other high fashion folks. Even our performer, was is Black, was told if she wanted to come into the club after she completed singing, she and her dancers would have to exit, go outside, and get in line with ebryone else.
Sounds like the old days when Sammy Davis Jr couldn’t stay in the same hotel he was performing in.
Fuck greenhouse…never go…bunch of racist pussies!!!
My girlfriend and I made arrangements with greenhouse to have approx 20-30 guests
for her birthday party this past weekend. We arrived at the venue early to check the
place out as we wanted to greet all of our guests as they came. After approx 30min
pass we begin to wonder why no one had arrived, only to receive multiple texts
stating that they were outside and security would not let them in after specifically telling
security they were here for our party. Sounds familiar doesn’t It. Upon walking outside we see 2 Lines. One huge line comprised of only our guests and another line of people who were walking in without any issues. I understand clubs have the right to be “SELECTIVE” but there is definitely something wrong when they are not “SELECTING” anyone from your group. Security began to give us vague information as to why they were not letting anyone in from our party while reiterating they reserved the right to be “SELECTIVE”. We were never so embarrassed in our lives. To anyone who believes it is right to be “SELECTIVE” in way which allows whites in your club and not blacks(This is exactly what occurred) is completely disillusioned. Any club with this kind of belief can only last for so long.
sounds to me like there’s a class action suit brewing right here. Why don’t you guys do something about it? And unihr why don’t you go back to the caves your ancestors used to crouch in?
