Last night at Skylight Studios here in New York City, a celebrity filled launch party was held for Vevo.com, a new collaboration between Universal Music Group and Google that will serve as the new “premiere” destination for premium music video.
According to Wired:
All of Universal Music Group’s video assets (music videos, interviews, concert footage and possibly Kyte-style backstage video) will live on Vevo, and YouTube — and eventually, AOL, MTV and Yahoo — will embed Universal’s videos from Vevo rather than licensing the content directly from the labels.
Not sure if this will work, as bloggers and websites are already ripping video from the site, and it also definitely had some kinks when it first launched. However, many of the artists seem to be on board, as some of music’s top names were at their launch event last night. Check out who attended below:

50 Cent

Adam Lambert

Asher Roth

Ciara was there, working it

Rihanna (Let’s look at the full outfit, shall we)

John Legend

John Mayer

Teen heartthrob, Justin Beiber

Mariah and Nick

All That’s Fab favorite, Q-Tip

Sylvia Rhone

Wyclef

And Gaga performed. As far as her get up, you really just can’t do anything but laugh, because we love this chick.
We’re interested in seeing how Vevo plays out.
