Kanye West is featured in Lady Gaga’s new photo shoot for The Fame Deluxe album artwork booklet. (Where are you Yeezy?) The shoot was done by none other than acclaimed photographer, Dave La Chappelle, who has worked with A-List artists such as Madonna, Lil’ Kim, Mariah Carey and more, and has also created advertisements for brands like Tommy Hilfiger.

We just spotted these photos over at our blogging buddy, Necole Bitchie’s site, and she made an interesting point. She says:

…The Rihanna’s and Beyonce’s of the world are always criticized when wearing something a bit racy (or next to nothing), however the Lady Gaga’s of the world are admired for pushing the envelope. Aren’t they all pushing the same envelope?

Double standard much?

Definitely a good point, but some may say the difference between Gaga and artists like Beyonce & Rihanna is that Gaga isn’t necessarily selling sex all of the time, and she’s not considered a “sex symbol”. While she may not wear a lot of clothes, she’s also not afraid to look “weird” and crazy on a regular basis as well.

In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, she made it a point to say…

My album covers are not sexual at all, which was an issue at my record label. I fought for months, and I cried at meetings. They didn’t think the photos were commercial enough…The last thing a young woman needs is another picture of a sexy pop star writhing in sand, covered in grease, touching herself.

*Shrugs*

Double standard or not, Gaga is killin’ it!
