Yesterday, he, along with Gov. Patterson and several other key public figures held a press conference and broke ground on the property that is to be the new home of the basketball team.

Says Jay-Z to MTV:

What I stand here and represent is hope for Brooklyn, New York City. I’m a son of Brooklyn, I’m from Marcy projects. I think about growing up in Brooklyn in the Marcy projects and shooting jump shots, thinking I can make it to the NBA. Now I stand here as an owner of team that’s coming back to Brooklyn. The pride in that, and bringing that dream so much closer for people, brings me so much pride I get a little nervous about it. But I’m very happy, very excited about this day. And we did it again Brooklyn — shout out to [Notorious] B.I.G.

Although this will definitely be a good thing for Brooklyn, many are concerned that because of this new venture, the cost of living will grow to be too high for the current residents. We hope this doesn’t turn out negatively.

Although we were invited to Ja Rule’s Bday party held at Quo last night, we opted to hit up PR Guru, Lexi Chow’s bday party held at 48. We only heard good things about Ja Rule’s event, and we’ll definitely try to catch his bday party next year!

Ja Rule celebrated his birthday along with celebrity fashion stylist Fatima B, family, and friends. The star studded event was held at Quo night club and DJ Self, Da Bronx bomber Power 105.1 own DJ Will were on the turntables all night.

Judging by the pictures, it wasn’t a star studded event, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves regardless. Plus Ja had TWO fabulous cakes!

So what in the world has Ja Rule been up to lately? Well, Mpire Records, owned by Ja Rule will be releasing his album entitled Venni Vetti Vecci 2010 in the summer of 2010. Ja Rule has recently released a mixtape “Rule York” volume 1 where it features other talents from Mpire records hosted by DJ PMT. He also stars in the film “Just Another Day” directed by Peter Spirer which is soon to be released featuring others such as Wood Harris, Jamie Hector, Clifton Powell and Big Daddy Kane.

She also started “Buppies”(BLACK URBAN PROFESSIONALS), the latest web series on BET.com. It looks like this lady is here to stay!

Fortunately, she is okay, and has been keeping us updated with everything that’s going on via the internet.

Last night, she wrote a letter explaining what is really going on, and urging people to make a donation directly to a LEGIT organization, as there have been a few scams floating around as well. Please read:

As everyone knows, fortunately I’m okay. My aunt and I were able to run outside in the middle of the street during the quake. Fortunately my little cousin was 3 cars ahead of 7 or 8 cars that had rocks collapse on top of them—still no word if those people survived. (pray for them). Communication is starting now in Haiti—and it seems we’ve lost a lot people.

But there are still hundreds buried underneath the rubble and rushed to the nearest hospital (well not really rushed, there’s no transportation–ppl are walking and traveling far distances, i dont know how they are making it). The hospitals are unsanitary with bloody needles on the ground, re-used knives and scissors–it’s just a horrible sight.

As I watched and helped doctors sew limbs back together–the patients had VERY VERY little anesthesia–they could feel everything and it was obvious they were excruciating pain.

As our house in Kenscoff is in very bad condition and we can’t sleep in it–I am currently staying at a friend of a friends house which seems pretty safe. There are a lot of false reports via twitter and other organizations, but being here in Haiti I can tell you the real place to donate. I plead that you pass this email on.
