'The Bachelor' Will Have A Shocking Twist In The Finale: Spoiler Alert!

As this season of ABC's 'The Bachelor' comes to a close, it's been rumored that fans have a dramatic finale in store.  The two-part finale, slated to air on Monday and Tuesday, will have a major plot twist that no one expected.

In fact, the bachelor in question has said he expects a lot of backlash for the turn of events, but he doesn't care.

As is traditional, by the end of filming, bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. proposed to his chosen 'dream girl', the winner of the show. At this point, no one is exactly sure who walked away with the prize, but it's down to two:  Becca Kufrin, a 27-year-old publicist, and Lauren Burnham, a 26-year-old sales executive.

Apparently, whoever won had a short-lived victory.

Before the show even aired, Luyendyk was showing buyer's remorse. He began to regret his choice and called off the engagement just two weeks after popping the question.

The 36-year-old race car driver then went to the runner up to see if she would still have him.

“Arie has a change of heart,” said a show insider to Us Weekly. "He began to think he’d picked the safer option.”

Luyendyk confirmed this with People Magazine, though he wouldn't reveal which girl he initially chose and dumped. “I know people are going to be hard on [me],” the 36-year-old race car driver admits.

“I made a mistake. And I’m prepared for the backlash. But all I can say is I had to follow my heart.”

Luyendyk was very confused about his choice. He'd previously told both Kufrin and Burnham that he loved them on the show. But after he thought he made his choice, sources say that he just couldn't stop thinking about the woman he didn't choose.

In a stunning turn of events, he changed his mind after the show finished filming.

“The winner is absolutely devastated,” said the source to Us Weekly.

“Around two or three months ago, he was having doubts about her being the one and decided to end it. And he didn’t want to wait until the live After the Final Rose special to do it.”

This isn't actually the first time in 'The Bachelor' history that something like this happened.

Jason Mesnick, in 2009, chose Melissa Rycroft at the end of the season. After a while, he and Rycroft broke up and he began dating Molly Malaney, his runner-up. The two were married in 2010 and are still going strong.

This time, however, the scene is going to play out on the show.

“The finale is going to be very interesting for fans to watch. It’s been an experience I’ll remember forever. It’s going to be fun for me to watch back,” said Luyendyk.

Luyendyk had already gotten backlash after reports came out that he broke up with his last girlfriend so that he could go on the show. In a reunion on Sunday, one of the other contestants who had been eliminated earlier hinted about the drama to come.

“I know what you did, and I don’t know how you could do that. I just really don’t understand. But I really hope you found what you’re looking for," said Caroline Lunny.

Lunny later told People, "I don’t think Arie knows what he wants. I hope he can move past the glitz of being the Bachelor and take it seriously.”
