Ivanka Has Dad's Autographed Speech Hanging on Her Wall

Ivanka Trump is always posting on social media to show off her style. From showing off her chic home decor in magazines to decorating tips like using a giant white clamshell as your Thanksgiving table centerpiece, the First Daughter seems to be almost as focused on decorating as she is on fashion.

If you had to guess what she has taped to her wall, however, it would probably take you years to get it right. It’s not a picture of her kids, herself, her husband, or any other member of her family. It’s not a priceless work of art.

According to The Washington Post, it's not exactly something you'd find on the cover of Home & Gardens magazine, but given the circumstances, it’s not exactly surprising.

Ivanka reportedly keeps a copy of one of her father's speeches on the wall. It's in a frame, and it's been signed, "To Ivanka, Love Dad." It's no secret that Ivanka is a bit obsessed with her father, but the content of this particular speech had extra-special meaning to her: it is entitled 'Remarks Regarding the Capital of Israel'.

President Donald Trump made the controversial decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. He made the announcement on December 6, stating that the U.S. would be moving their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. At first the big move was slated to take place by the end of 2019, but now the time has moved forward to the end of May 2018.

Like much of what Trump does, the move sparked outrage. The international community reacted with violence and protests, resulting in bombings, raids, arrests and numerous deaths. Muslims around the world denounced the decision in a special summit in Istanbul.

Even Palestinian Christians have rejected Trump's decision, noting that it was an 'insulting' move.

The UN granted Jerusalem special status so that it would be under international sovereignty. Israel's claim to the city has never been internationally recognized. Palestinians have believed for decades that East Jerusalem would be the capital of their future state once Israeli occupation ends.

Trump’s actions have undermined all efforts to negotiate peace in the conflicts between Israel and Palestine.

Ivanka, of course, was delighted by the move. The president's daughter converted to Judaism in 2009 when she married Jared Kushner. In an interview with Vogue Magazine, she reported that she and her husband were observant Jews and were raising their children religiously. They keep the sabbath, keep Kosher, and, of course, support Israel.

Ivanka shared in the interview how becoming Jewish has changed her life.

“It’s been such a great life decision for me. I am very modern, but I’m also a very traditional person, and I think that’s an interesting juxtaposition in how I was raised as well. I really find that with Judaism, it creates an amazing blueprint for family connectivity," she explained.

In light of this, it makes sense that Ivanka would find that particular speech of her father’s the most inspirational.

Apparently, the framed speech has an unusual partner. Next to it are the lyrics to the song ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by the 1980’s band, Journey. Ivanka is a big fan of the song, notes the post, and the irony of the two documents hanging side-by-side are not due to coincidence.
