Kim Kardashian's Latest Photo Has Everyone Outraged - Can You Spot Why?

There are plenty of benefits to having an incredibly large presence on social media, but it also opens up a ton of risk. Virtually everything you do will be scrutinized ad nauseam, and any perceived missteps will be completely overblown as if it’s something akin to the end of the world.

Reality megastar Kim Kardashian has been around that block a time or twelve, and she just took another lap. As Too Fab shares, a new social media firestorm has erupted over a magazine cover that she posed for.

For Interview Magazine’s September issue, Kardashian posed for a cover photo with her daughter North. Plenty of pics were inside as well, and someone apparently thought it was a fabulous idea to depict her as some sort of modern day Jackie O.

The head scratching decision went over about as well as it sounds, and social media erupted. In addition to the highly questionable theme of the photos, it seems that Kardashian’s skin tone was altered to make her appear several shades darker.

“Great insights on the Q&A but why is she 50 shades darker than her actual skin color? Was this not run through editorial? 2017 we still here,” shared one user. “Why did we need Kim K to match her daughters skin complexion? She's your daughter, we know this. We can celebrate diversity.”

The comments ran the gamut from pointed to criticism to random potshots.

“Y TF did they darken ur skin? This makes no sense, America's 1st lady? I just can't with u. Charlottesville, u push ur make up, TX, this,” added one commenter.

“Kinda uncomfortable looking at @KimKardashian shoot in her @InterviewMag photos shot by @SKstudly why is her skin much darker...? #confused,” wrote another user.

“Why her and north skin the same color knowing this woman is white hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm look Kim. Be careful. Like sister like sister,” chimed in a user that was trying really hard to post in a phonetic fashion.

Kardashian is no stranger to massive rows on social media. This too shall pass, but it’s still a bad look. In her defense, we’ll consider it unlikely that the cover and theme were her idea.

By extension, it’s hard to comprehend how this was signed off on as a fabulous idea by the publication’s editorial team. Mission accomplished on the capturing attention front. Epic fail on having people take the cover seriously.

“I hate when they Jackie O celebs up bc it trivializes the tragedy. That woman lost her husband, a country lost a president. No comparison,” wrote one user.

“Jackie O literally had her husbands brains in her lap, wtf has Kim K gone through that even comes close to that to where she can imitate her,” shared one commenter.

“is there anything you dont do for attention?” chimed in another poster.

We’ve seen all kinds of reaches made in the social media era in which famous folks that are famous for being famous are compared to more noteworthy individuals. It never goes over well. Perhaps this will be the jump the shark moment we’ve all been waiting for.
