Blake Lively Shares Her Struggle To Lose 61 Lbs. After Giving Birth To Second Child

Blake Lively announced she's finally lost the baby weight after giving birth to her second child — all 61 lbs. of it. The 30-year-old mom didn't glamorize the process, or pretend it was a breeze, either.

She admits it took a lot of commitment and a lot of effort. Many of her fans found her candor refreshing.

Lively made fans laugh with her comments in an Instagram post.

"Turns out you can’t lose the 61 lbs. you gained during pregnancy by just scrolling through Instagram and wondering why you don’t look like all the bikini models. Thanks @donsaladino for kickin my A double S into shape. 10 months to gain, 14 months to lose. Feeling very proud," she said.

She shared a post of her and her personal trainer, Don Saladino. In the photo, Lively is sporting her tiny waist and killer abs again. Not that it’s unusual for the beauty to look fantastic, but you can tell that her hard work paid off.

In the past, women in Hollywood have seemed to just bounce back after giving birth, as if the weight just fell off them even more easily than the baby came out. Lively shows that it's just not a realistic depiction, and admitted she had a long way to go after gaining 61 pounds.

Lively, who is married to 41-year-old actor Ryan Reynolds, gave birth in September of 2016, and says she only just now reached her goal.

"This photo inspired me to start dieting and running again. Been in a slump lately and you're a queen goddess inspiration. I love you!!!" said one fan.

"Thanks for being real about it, You look amazing. I never thought losing the baby weight would bug me as much or take as long," said another. " The models who lose it in a few months do not help, even though they are probably contractually bound to lose it."

"I just saw this and suddenly, I feel less bad about not losing the weight as fast," another inspired Instagram fan said.

Other actresses had come forward and shared that it's not so easy for all women to shed the pregnancy pounds. Zooey Deschanel talked to Redbook about her post-baby weight experience after giving birth to her daughter, and she says that no matter how easy some women make it look, it's not a given.

“To expect someone to look like her pre-baby self immediately is odd,” Deschanel told Redbook. “Because you just grew a human and then birthed that human — there’s a lot that needs to go back to where it was. All your organs move around, for chrissakes!”

Lively has said in interviews that she hopes to teach her children, 3-year-old daughter, James, and 1-year-old Ines, about unrealistic expectations of beauty. The L'Oreal ambassador hopes to instill a healthy attitude in her girls.

"There's this awareness of what they're going to be exposed to and what they grow up seeing. For me, it's important for my daughters to know that it's not real life," she said.

"They're seeing me dressed up in all this hair and makeup, but they also see me without that. I want them to see both sides, because there is never just one side.”
