Christina Aguilera Memorializes Her Beloved 17-Year-Old Dog After Putting Him Down

For pet owners, just the thought of the day when your furry little friend is no longer going to be with you is enough to spark anxieties and sadness. Pets really do become a member of the family, and the day will unfortunately come when they have to leave this world.

There’s nothing quite like losing a loved one, and there’s also no one-size-fits-all way of getting through things. It really hurts when it happens, and there’s just no two ways around that.

While it’s true that time heals all, nothing can seem to be further from the truth during the darkest hours. The trauma of losing a pet can spark a nasty bout of depression, and it can take some serious doing just to be able to dig yourself out of it.

Kind words from friends and other loved ones that mean well help to an extent, but nothing will quite soothe the pain. Sometimes, the best medicine comes in the form of remembering your little guy or gal and all of the joy that they brought into your life.

That’s the course of action that pop music sensation Christina Aguilera seems to be taking. As Little Things shares, she was recently forced to make a tough decision in regards to her beloved 17-year-old dog named Stinky.

She’s had the pup since she rocketed to fame in the early 2000s, and he’s been with her every step of the way as her career has reached astronomical heights. Sadly, Stinky hasn’t been doing all that well of late, and Aguilera was forced to come to terms with the fact that it may be best to put him out of his misery.

Aguilera posted a touching tribute to her pal on social media as she announced to the world that she had been forced to make an incredibly difficult decision.

“I had to finally make the hard decision to put my beloved Stinky down last night after an amazing 17 years together! You were my roadie through the tours...breakups...life’s many ups and downs...my 1st baby before I had any babies...The one and only forever RIP, Stinky... Run free and with no more misery,” she wrote.

Along with the post, Aguilera would share a tribute video to her furry friend, a beautiful Papillion that was a gift from an ex-boyfriend. He was Aguilera’s very first dog, so you can only imagine that the bond that she shared with him.

While it’s heartbreaking that she had to let him go, she can take solace in the fact that he lived such a long life by dog standards. That’s not going to heal all of her pain, but it’s safe to say she got some extra joy through her extended time with her little pal.

Since welcoming Stinky into her home, Aguilera has gone on and raised several other dogs as well. As always, the first one always holds a special place in your heart, and it’s quite clear that Stinky had a huge impact on her life.

Since becoming the proud owner of Stinky, Aguilera has gone on to achieve success beyond her wildest dreams. It’s safe to assume that her beloved pet provided a ton of love, affection, and even inspiration along the way.
