Donald Trump Jr. Gets Into Twitter Spat With Jimmy Kimmel

Things escalate quickly on social media all the time, but the ones that involve famous faces have a way of sticking out and capturing the imagination. That’s especially true now that President Donald Trump is in office, as he’s none too shy about expressing his angst about things on Twitter. Trump’s tweet-storms have become legendary, and they provide an endless source of material for the media and late night talk show hosts. Speaking of the latter category, that was the subject of one of Trump’s latest rants.

As The Hill shares, Trump is not oblivious to the fact that he’s roasted on a nightly basis by hosts of the various late night chat fests, and he took to social media to offer up some suggestions for new material.

“Late Night [hosts] are dealing with the Democrats for their very 'unfunny' & repetitive material, always anti-Trump! Should we get Equal Time?” Trump wrote.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel hopped right in to respond, and he had a suggestion of his own.

“Excellent point Mr. President! You should quit that boring job – I’ll let you have my show ALL to yourself,” Kimmel replied.

That prompted Donald Trump Jr. to chime in with some thoughts, and he wanted to know if Kimmel would be devoting any time to a scandalous story that has been making the rounds.

“Thoughts on Harvey Weinstein? #askingforafriend,” Trump Jr. asked.

“You mean that big story from the failing, liberal, one-sided @nytimes? I think it is disgusting,” Kimmel replied.

An explosive story that alleges the Hollywood producer and Democratic donor is facing a number of sexual assault accusations from a number of different women has been blasted all over the place, and Trump Jr. sees this as a topic for Kimmel to broach as opposed to assailing his father.

“Great I look forward to your monologues next week. You're probably due for a change if only for a moment or two,” Trump Jr. added.

“great - in the meantime, enjoy this!” Kimmel retorted.

Included in Kimmel’s post was a clip of the infamous ‘Access Hollywood’ tape in which Trump can be heard making lewd and crude remarks about women on a hot mic. Not quite a mic drop moment, but it’s pretty safe to say that Kimmel won this round. We’ll have to wait and see how he’ll respond on his next show. The Weinstein allegations are apparently weighing heavily on Trump Jr.’s mind, as he posed a similar question in regards to Hillary Clinton.

“Weird, Hillary has been really quiet about Harvey Weinstein. You would think she would be all Over this. #WhatHappened?” he wrote.

Famous folks behaving badly on social media never seems to get old, and it’s pretty stunning to see those that are familiar with the world of public relations have so little of a filter. It’s a gigantic risk to take, as one little misstep with the written word can have some serious ramifications. We can only assume they view that as a risk worth taking - as long as they get in the last word and get their point across. As we see in the above example with Trump Jr., that’s not always the case.
