Here's What Meghan Markle's Dad Thinks About His Daughter's Engagement To Prince Harry

When the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was announced, the world of social media ground to a halt. Well wishes for the happy couple quickly flowed in from anywhere and everywhere, and it was abundantly clear that the wedding of the year for 2018 was going to be a no contest.

Despite all of the advancements in the modern world, there remains nothing like the pomp and circumstance of a Royal Wedding to capture the imagination of the romantics out there. In fact, even the hardened folks can be glued to the tube when the latest addition to the Royal Family makes her way down the aisle.

Royal Weddings are big business on the television landscape, and you can expect to see wall-to-wall coverage on the big day. In the interim, Harry and Meghan have given some interviews that confirm that they seem to be a perfect fit, and you can expect to see even more notes along those lines as their wedding day approaches.

So it’s pretty clear that Harry and Meghan are stoked, but what about members of their respective families? Specifically, how does Meghan’s family feel about the fact that she’s about to become royalty?

As Elite Daily shares, we can include her dad in the category of those that are perfectly fine with it.

Thomas Markle had some words of wisdom when he was approached with questions about how he felt about his daughter’s pending nuptials.

“I think it’s wonderful ... I’m very delighted ... I think they’re [a] very good match. I’m very happy for them, Meghan and Harry," he said.

"I love my daughter very much — Harry’s a gentleman."

He then said, “Now leave me alone, please ... Don’t bother me anymore."

"No more flashing cameras in my eyes or I’ll flash back.”

Meghan’s parents divorced back in 1988, but she remains close with both of them. She offered up some insight on things during an interview with Vanity Fair.

“My parents had been so supportive watching me audition, trying to make ends meet, taking all the odds-and-ends jobs to pay my bills,” she recalled.

“I was doing calligraphy, and I was a hostess at a restaurant — and all those things that actors do... My father knew how hard it is for an actor to get work, so he above all people was so proud that I was able to beat the odds.”

Thomas now lives his life in seclusion in Mexico, which is why it took so long to get a comment on the wedding, but he wasn't always so out of the spotlight. He just so happened to have made his way in the entertainment industry as well, as he’s an Emmy-nominated lighting director.

“Every day after school for 10 years, I was on the set of Married With Children, which is a really funny and perverse place for a little girl in a Catholic school uniform to grow up,” Meghan continued.

“There were a lot of times my dad would say, 'Meg, why don't you go and help with the craft services room over there? This is just a little off-color for your 11-year-old eyes.'”

It certainly doesn’t sound like there’s any family drama for Meghan to worry about as the big day approaches, but that’s not going to stop gossip-type stories from making the rounds about how her family really feels about things. We’ll join her dad in noting that they appear to be a very good match and wish them nothing but the best.
