Kate Hudson's Comment About Mom's Who Have C-Sections Stirs Outrage

Celebrities say the darnedest things. For once, we’re not talking about politics either. Actress Kate Hudson finds herself in the deep end of the pool these days after she made some flippant remarks during an interview. As Fox News shares, she’s being blasted for what she had to say about C-sections.

The 38-year-old actress is a mom of two, and she had a C-section to deliver one of her children. While it’s a common procedure that’s done based on medical necessity, Hudson has a different interpretation of things. As part of a feature in Cosmopolitan, Hudson was provided with a list of open-ended questions to fill in the blanks with.

“The laziest thing I’ve ever done:” read one question.

“Have a C-section!” Hudson replied.

That didn’t go over too swell with a number of readers, and Hudson has since been blasted on social media.

“I thought of you as a brilliant trailblazer and now I’m just without words that you used your platform to announce your c-section was 'lazy.' I’m sad for you on your viewpoint on this issue and hopefully you can see how insensitive that was,” shared one user.

But was this just some kind of ill-advised joke that Hudson never should’ve shared? It doesn’t appear that way, based on some other comments she made.

“It was such a pain in the butt to get to the hospital because [she] was being stalked by photographers,” she said. “I was like, ‘I am not going home, just don’t want to do this again. Let’s just have a C-section.’”

Hmmm. There’s a ton of adjectives we can use to describe that line of reasoning, and lazy is nowhere near the top of the list. Women that have had a C-section out of necessity have taken serious umbrage with the star’s flippant remarks.

“I've had 3 C-sections, and it's by far not the 'laziest thing I've ever done' … come on @katehudson you must've known you were gonna get hate on for that answer. It's nice to know what you think of the majority of women who give birth that way. Thanks *sarcasm,*” shared one commenter.

“i(sic) used teo(sic) love #KateHudson, but I lost all respect for her. I have had 2 c sections out of necessity, so not lazy, took months to recover,” added another user.

As with most celebrity flubs and eyeroll-inducing comments, this too shall pass. However, there’s a big old learning experience nestled inside of here for those celebs that prefer to not be seen as being oblivious and out-of-touch: Your world is vastly different from the one in which the vast majority of your fans exist in. Using Hudson as the example, it sounds like she can snap her fingers and make things happen on the medical front. Her fans don’t hold such powers.

Additionally, she’s making it sound like she used the C-section as a means of dealing with an inconvenience. That’s also an alarmingly different perspective than most women that are faced with a C-section will have. Perhaps next time she’s faced with such open-ended questions, she can run it by a trusted confidante to make sure she doesn’t come across as clueless.
