President Talks About His Wife's Appearance In An Aflac Commercial

Apparently, something about Melania Trump got by everyone during the past couple of years. Her husband let the cat out of the bag, though, when Aflac announced they would be offering employees bonuses as a result of Trump's tax cuts.

Trump revealed that Melania starred in a commercial for the company. President Donald Trump made the mention when he got a gift from Aflac on Wednesday: a pair of socks.

The gift came along with a mention that the company approved of the tax cuts and planned to pass on the wealth to some employees.

"Your chairman I know very well, and he's done a fantastic job," said Trump to Michael Porter, a spokesperson for the company.

Then he added, "He actually, a long time ago, hired my wife to do a big commercial. You know that, right? An Aflac commercial. And I think it was a successful commercial, too."

It didn't take long for the old commercial to resurface on social media. The ad from 2005 was filmed in the same year that Donald and Melania were married, and just a year before she gave birth to Barron Trump.

The black-and-white horror movie-style commercial takes inspiration from the classic ‘Frankenstein’ film. It features a made-up Melania on a slab with the famous Aflac duck on the other slab.

The scientist explains to his assistant that he wants to give the duck 'the voice of this lovely woman'.

"Why?" his assistant, an Igor-like figure, asks.

"To tell the world the benefits of Aflac – with sex appeal!"

The scientist throws the switch and uses electric rods to switch their brains. When the procedure is over, the mascot stands up and begins speaking in Melania's voice.

"'If you're hurt and can't work, Aflac can help pay your bills with cash," the duck says in a breathy voice with a familiar accent.

Melania than sits up and quacks in the duck's voice, "AFLAC!"

She then looks down and sees that her feet have also turned into webbed duck feet, and she squeals.

The ad was never really a secret. It was listed on Melania's resume for years, and also was listed on her modeling bio webpage.

"Melania has appeared in numerous television commercials, most recently for Aflac, in which she stars with one of America's top icons, the Aflac duck," the bio read.

The modeling website where it was once posted is no longer in operation. Because of this, the post has disappeared. Melania hasn’t put the billing on her resume since.

“I am very excited to make my acting debut in the latest Aflac commercial,” she wrote in 2005 when the commercial was coming out. “Donald is known for saying ‘You’re fired’; maybe I will be known for saying ‘Aflac.’”

Well, that didn't happen. But she did go on to have a much better gig: First Lady of the United States. While this new role has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start, she seems to be winning over the American public.

Her approval ratings have been going up, and her popularity has surpassed her husband’s ratings.
