Robert De Niro Goes Off With Obscene Tirade Directed At Trump

President Donald Trump is not Robert De Niro’s cup of tea. The legendary actor has made that crystal clear on a number of different occasions.

It’s quite clear that POTUS grinds his gears to the nth degree, and he’s been none too shy about sharing that fact with the world. De Niro’s viewpoint is in line with the overwhelming majority of the entertainment industry, which was clearly hoping for a different result in the 2016 presidential election.

Since Trump’s stunning victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, there have been a countless number of awards shows that bring together the Hollywood elite for this or that. Trump has been a pretty big topic at these events, and many celebs that find themselves behind the podium have used the opportunity to throw shade at the commander-in-chief.

De Niro was recently on hand as a presenter at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala, and he did a whole lot more than throw shade in Trump’s direction.

As the Daily Mail shares, De Niro completely went off on Trump with a foul-mouthed rant that was not exactly PG-13 material. De Niro was there to present Meryl Streep with an award, but he got sidetracked a number of times while discussing her latest film, ‘The Post.’

“That story took place nearly 50 years ago, but there are many parallels with today obviously," he began.

"At the time of the story, Donald Trump was suffering with 'bone spurs'. Today the world is suffering from the real Donald Trump,” he said.

“Come on. You know, what are we talking about?"

"This f***ing idiot is the President. It's The Emperor's New Clothes - the guy is a f***ing fool.”

He would compose himself from that point, but he would eventually find himself getting sidetracked again.

“Our government today, with the propping [up] of our baby-in-chief - the jerkoff-in-chief I call him - has put the press under siege, trying to discredit it through outrageous attacks and lies. And again just like 1971 the press is distinguishing itself with brave, exacting journalism,” De Niro added.

“The movie gave us glimpses of President Nixon as delusional, narcissistic, petty, vindictive, nasty and bats*** f***ing crazy. Ah the good old days.”

The award show wasn’t televised, so viewers at home weren’t treated to the site of an acting legend going off on the sitting President of the United States. By the time he was ready to call Streep up on stage, De Niro was back to his usual charming self.

“You show us their heroism as well as their imperfections. And I know that's a stretch for you - because Meryl doesn't seem to have any imperfections,” he said.

“And I say that with the most love for you, Meryl. I love you so much."

"Ladies and gentlemen, the National Board of Review's best actress…”

While De Niro is certainly entitled to his opinions, it’s pretty tough to suggest that he comes out smelling like roses here.

We get it. He doesn’t like Trump at all, and he wishes that he wasn’t president.

But does he have to be so crass and vulgar while referring to the person that currently occupies the Oval Office? Common sense suggests not.

The political discourse in the country as a whole is abhorrent at the moment, and rants like the one that De Niro just dropped only help it to deteriorate even further.
