Usher Makes Shocking Claim About Giving Women Herpes

Celebrated R&B singer and songwriter Usher Raymond IV, professionally known as Usher, was slammed with a lawsuit by two women and one man who accused him of giving them herpes. The accusers say the singer had sex with them and failed to reveal to them that he had the sexually transmitted disease. Usher is firing back at these accusations.

Attorney Lisa Bloom is representing the three people who accused Usher of spreading the STD around in a joint $20 million lawsuit. Two of the plaintiffs claim they carry the disease now and are remaining anonymous. Quantasia Sharpton, one of the accusers, says she doesn't have the virus but that if she had known Usher did, she would have never consented to sex with him.

In addition to the charge of spreading herpes, the lawsuit also alleges sexual battery, fraud, negligence and infliction of emotional distress.

Usher's legal team has denied all allegations, arguing that even if sexual encounters did take place, there was never an intent to cause harm on the singer's part. "Any alleged conduct by defendant, which is expressly denied, was unintentional," read the lawsuit filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Usher's attorneys, Laura Wasser and Zia Modabber, said that by engaging in sexual activities, 'each plaintiff assumed the risk of any alleged harm'.

"Any harm that any plaintiff alleges to have suffered was caused in whole or in part by that plaintiff's own negligence," the lawsuit reads, accusing the plaintiffs of acting unethically.

Genital herpes is an infection of the herpes simplex virus that results in painful outbreaks on the genitals. These sores and blisters usually appear within a week of sexual exposure to the disease. A person who has the disease doesn't have to be having an outbreak in order to spread it. It's considered the most common STD.

Usher has not yet confirmed whether or not he has the STD, but some leaked documents online have alleged that Usher paid for one woman's medical bills and settled a civil suit after infecting her with the virus in 2012.

Bloom remains hopeful that justice will be served for her clients. "We look forward to taking Usher's deposition soon and to proving our case in court," she said.

The 38-year-old performer born in Dallas, Texas rose to fame in the 1990s with his first album, 'Usher'. Since then, he's had a number of hits and has sold tens of millions of albums and digital songs, has won a number of awards and accolades.

Usher generally remains very private about his personal life. He's had some highly publicized romances, including marriages and divorces, that made tabloid fodder for years. After some ugly custody battles and the tragic death of his stepson, he had enough of seeing his name splashed across headlines and withdrew from the limelight. He's still very active in the business and is considered a music icon, though as he’s gotten older he’s sought to keep his private life more private.
