Mother Under Fire Using Her Breast Milk In Bake-Sale Brownies

A woman posted on Facebook to share that she had run out of milk in the fridge, so she had to get creative when it came time to bake brownies. The mother claims she substituted her own breast milk in the brownie recipe.

While many people might let that slide if the brownies were just for her own family, the mother explained that they were actually for a school bake sale. She said she told another mother, and was surprised by that woman 'blowing it way out of proportion'.

The woman posted the question on Facebook to get advice. “I made brownies for my school bake sale that had breast milk in them. I didn’t have time to run to the store, and didn’t think it was a big deal (some of those kids could use the nutrition to be honest),” the post says. “One of the other moms found out and are blowing it way out of proportion. Idk what to do!”

Within a half hour, the post had gotten over 200 comments, and it was reposted to the Facebook group 'Sanctimommy'. The woman's name was blotted out for anonymity, and for good reason.

Furious posters slammed her for secretly using her personal bodily fluids in food for other children, while others came forward to defend breastmilk.

“Honestly this is actually a damn near criminal offense! Breast milk, like blood or semen, can carry diseases, which is why legit donation services screen the milk before passing it along to moms and their babies. Secretly feeding children that aren’t yours baked goods with your bodily fluids in them in gross, shady and borderline psychotic. Wait, not borderline, it’s full-blown psychotic,” wrote one angry mother.

Many others also chimed in to complain that someone's breast milk may not be safe. Even the U.S. Food and Drug Administration discourages women from sharing breast milk with other people's children, and discourages parents from letting their children drink unscreened breast milk from others.

The FDA notes that breast milk can pass on contaminants, diseases and, if improperly handled, can be unfit for consumption.

Some people came forward to defend breast milk, saying that people are over-reacting when comparing it to semen and urine. "Some idiots are comparing breast milk to semen and piss," one mom complained.

Other people were amused at the incident, calling the woman 'Booby Crocker'.

Still others pointed out that brownie mixes do not require milk. The low moisture, high fat batter is why brownies turn out so dense and chewy. "Story about a mum using breast milk to make brownies. I'm just wondering why she used milk in a brownie mixture," said one commenter.

Some accuse the original poster of just being a troll, because it seems obvious that any sound-minded woman would know that it's wrong to feed other people your breast milk without them knowing. And if someone did, it certainly isn’t the kind of thing they’d broadcast to other parents.

Still, people have all kinds of crazy fetishes, so you never know.
