Breast Cancer Patient Dies Just Hours After Marrying Love Of Her Life

On December 23, 2016, Heather Mosher’s life was forever altered in two very different ways. She was diagnosed with breast cancer on this day, and her boyfriend David knew he had to show her that she wasn’t about to go through it alone.

He intended to pop the question anyway, but he arranged it so that he could make it happen that same night. As Meaww shares, Heather said yes, but her health would gradually get worse and worse.

On the day of her diagnosis, Heather was understandably devastated. David was downright crazy about her to begin with, and it’s almost as if he fell in love with her even more on the spot.

We can only imagine that it started to sink in how short life really is, and that led him to finally pull the trigger on something he had been angling to do anyway.

"She didn't know I was going to propose that night, but I said to myself, she needs to know she's not going to go down this road alone," he recalls.

"A pair of draft horses, a carriage, and I arranged it all for that night. We went out on the carriage ride and I proposed to her under a street light."

The couple had been together for nearly two years after meeting at a dance class. They became inseparable from that point, and it was pretty clear that they were meant to be together.

David’s proposal made that a reality, but there was still the matter of his bride-to-be’s health.

Unfortunately, the stars wouldn’t align on that front. Heather’s condition worsened, and she was given only a few months to live as 2017 moved along.

However, that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to get her dream of becoming David’s wife.

A wedding was arranged at the St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. While Heather was too weak to get out of bed, she was able to exchange vows with the man she loved and get some wedding day photos.

"Nobody thought she would've made it that far. She proved them all wrong and that's what that photo says to me." he said.

It reminds me of someone who is crossing the finish line of a marathon or something," David added.

Christina Karas, Heather's friend and bridesmaid, also served as the couple’s wedding photographer, and she notes there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

“We were losing her as we were all standing there, thinking, to hold onto this, because this was the last she had to give,” she said.

Heather would die just hours after her wedding. David is completely determined to keep his wife’s memory alive any way that he can.

"I knew it was going to be the last time we were going to be together in a loving way, it just seemed like the strangest funeral I've ever been to. She's my great love, and I'm going to lose her, but I'm not losing her forever," David said.

"Heather said, 'I want to keep fighting,' so that's the mantra I'm picking up. She was able to fight until the end, I'm going to fight until my end."

He concluded, "We had a great love, Don’t take your love for granted because it could be taken away."
