92-Year-Old Man Finally Gets Love Letter His Wife Penned A Lifetime Ago

Some 72 years ago, one loving wife wrote a beautiful letter to her husband. He was serving in the Navy, and it was World War II. The pregnant woman wanted to share her feelings with her husband, but she somehow lost the note. It fell and slipped under a crack in the walls.

Rolf Christoffersen never got the note from his wife, Virginia, but the couple went on to express their love for each other many times over the years. They remained together until Virginia passed away about six years ago.

Owners of the home that the couple once lived in were doing some work and they found the letter. Melissa Fahy and her father uncovered it behind a wall. They knew that the touching message was something the family might treasure and they tracked down the couple's son.

As it turns out, Rolf is still alive. He's 96 years old, and on the sixth anniversary of his wife's death, he finally got to hear the beautiful letter. Rolf Jr. read it to him.

"I still have a few minutes on my lunch hour and I was dreaming about you so I thought I'd write a little love letter to my favorite pin-up boy," Virginia wrote all those years ago. "Are you as lonesome for me as I am for you...?"

Virginia lovingly warned her husband to take his medicine and stay away from rum and Coca-Cola. She joked about how big she was getting with her pregnancy, and how everything was going well.

"I just feel happy and proud to be carrying the baby of the person I love most in the world," she wrote. "I really feel as if I have a part of you with me all the time... I love you Rolf, as I love the warm sun, and that is what you are to my life, the sun about which everything else revolves for me'.

"In a way, I guess it's his wife coming back and making her memory alive again," said Fahy.
