Separated Couple Mails Greeting Cards To Their Dog To Keep In Touch

Cupid is supposed to be the matchmaker, and Aphrodite is the goddess of love; but in one family, it's Apollo who is helping to bring two estranged lovers back together.

Apollo is an adorable dog who belongs to Frankie and Rebecca Hernandez. The couple was married for three years. The two were high school sweethearts and the future looked rosy, but things got tough.

Frankie, a Marine, was away a lot and the separations took a toll on the relationship. Rebecca and Frankie separated after three years of marriage. Rebecca went to live with Apollo in Mercedes, Texas, while Frankie retired and moved to Houston.

When Apollo's birthday rolled around after the two had separated, Frankie sent the dog a card and a gift card to Petco. Rebecca thought it was sweet. Frankie continued to send his dogs cards and gift cards for all holidays and birthdays.

Two years after the couple had separated, Rebecca posted an image of the most recent card. “Watching you grow up from a puppy that fit in the palm of my hand to the overgrown big dog that you are now was nothing short of an adventure, and I loved every moment of it. There is honestly not one time where thinking of you has failed to put a smile on my face. I will forever be grateful to you for that... There isn't a day that I don't think of you.”

"Continue to be there for her like you were for me. I miss you, buddy. See you when I see you. Love, Dad,” Frankie concluded.

“I was surprised he was still doing it. It's been two years and he still cares very much for us both. It is incredibly heartwarming to know how much he loves us.”

Because the cards kept coming, Rebecca got in touch with her ex to thank him. He told her that he wanted to show that he would always be there for both of them. Rebecca had been praying for a sign, and she believed it came.

With that, the two have started meeting up again to spend time together, and a reconciliation might be on the horizon.

“I guess you can say we are seeing where this road leads us. We are both hoping it leads to nothing but happiness with one another — the way we dreamt of as teens,” said Rebecca.
