Woman and Man Meet Online, Realize They Were Preschool Sweethearts

You never quite know what you’re going to find when you load a profile on a dating website. The matches that the site may have in mind can sometimes be the complete opposite of what you are looking for, but once in a while, users can strike gold and find a perfect fit.

According to People, Match.com recently matched up a pair of former flames that hadn’t seen each other for 30 years.

Justin Pounders and Amy Giberson once shared a mutual affection way back in the preschool days. The then three-year-olds got along famously, and they would spend plenty of time in each other’s company playing with blocks, engaging in games of tag at recess, and even cozying up next to each other at lunchtime.

The couple was matched up on the popular dating site, but it took them a full year of dating before they finally realized they were once pre-K sweethearts.

Pounders tells People “I saw her photo and for whatever reason, was instantly drawn to her. She just had this great energy, you could tell. I can’t explain it, but I knew I had to get to know this girl.”

That pre-school bond apparently carried over pretty well, and Amy even sensed something special was brewing when they met up for the first time.

"Of course, at that point, we still didn't know we had been pre-K sweethearts, but when we met up and we hugged, it was like I had known him my whole life. When I first saw him, I felt that I was staring at the man I was going to marry," she said.

They finally made the connection one day while driving in the car and Justin mentioned a girl he had a crush on in preschool. Giberson tells People “We were in the car and Justin casually mentioned that he loved my name because he had had a crush on a girl named Amy in his preschool. Then I joked to him, ‘Well, it’s not me, so I don t want to hear about her!’ ”

After digging more, they both realized they attended Sunshine Preschool at the same time and Pounders did, in fact, have a crush on Giberson.

Update: After a year of dating, Pounders got down on one knee and proposed to Giberson while they were being interviewed on 'The View'. A short while later they were married.

The fairytale continued when in 2018 they welcomed their first child, a baby boy.
