World's Hairiest Girl, Living In Thailand, Finds True Love

Most people think that “werewolves” are just another made up supernatural creature like vampires or mermaids, but it turns out that both male and female werewolves do exist. There are just a handful of people across the world suffering from a rare genetic condition that causes them to grow a thick coat of hair all over their body, including on their faces.

These extra-hairy people, however, do not have super strength or only become hairy at night. They are hairy 24/7 unless they shave all their hair off regularly.

A girl in Thailand nicknamed the “World's Hairiest Girl” has revealed that she has married the love of her life and now shaves her face almost every day.

17-year-old Supatra “Natty” Susuphan from Bangkok, has been showing off her new look on social media, with her new husband also included in a number of the pics.

It seems that Susuphan suffers from a very rare genetic condition called Ambras Syndrome, sometimes called as Werewolf Syndrome. This syndrome causes extreme hypertrichosis leading to excessive body-hair growth.

Susuphan, who was officially dubbed the hairiest girl in the world by Guinness World Records back in 2010, has long hair growing over her face, ears, arms, legs and back, making her appear a bit like a smallish female Yeti.

Despite extensive laser treatment to try and stop the extreme hair growth, Susuphan is still quite hirsute. However, she now regularly shaves all of her body and her face, her father recently explained in an interview with local Thai media.

Her social media feed suggests she has found happiness with her unnamed husband after she posted: 'You're not just my first love, you're the love of my life.'

Medical experts point out, Susuphan is one of the 40 to 50 known sufferers of Ambras Syndrome to be documented in historical records since the Middle Ages.

Not surprisingly, the unfortunate people who suffer from this condition are often called “werewolves”, and many are still shunned by other members of their communities.

Related to this, Susuphan also admitted in an interview with local Thai media that her condition had sometimes led to her being called Wolf Girl or Chewbacca at school, but that her family and friends had always given her the love and support she needed to move beyond these insults.

In an interview after the receiving the award from the Guinness World Records, Susuphan noted: “I don't feel any different to anyone else, and I've got lots of friends at school

She said, "Being hairy makes me special. There were a few people who used to tease me and call me monkey face but they don't do it any more.”

She continued to say it’s not that big a deal to her: “I'm very used to this condition. I can't feel the hair as it has always been like this, I don't feel anything.”

She did express her hope for a cure for her condition some time in the future: “It does sometimes make it difficult to see when it gets long. I hope I will be cured one day.”
