Couple Leave Locked Home – Return, Find Hundreds of Teenagers Broke In

Teenagers have a reputation for testing boundaries and bending rules. Most people think that teenage mischief is largely innocent. However, a recent incident in Colorado has shown that teenagers, especially when in large groups, can cause a lot more damage than you might think.

The following story is just one case in which teenagers have crossed the line. It all began when Mike Cox and his wife left their Colorado home to go have a romantic meal at a nearby restaurant. However, while Mr. and Mrs. Cox were enjoying their meal, dozens of teenagers were in the midst of breaking into their home and setting up a temporary party. According to Shareably, the teenagers had planned the event earlier in the day, advertising the party on local social media pages.

Unsurprisingly, the party quickly got out of hand, with hundreds of local teenagers hearing about and travelling to the party. In mere hours, the massive group of teenagers were drunk and trashing the Cox family’s million dollar home.

In an interview with CBS Denver, Mr. Cox spoke about the damage done to his recently remodeled home. “You come home and find that 200 or 300 kids have broken into your house and torn it to pieces,” he said mournfully. “There were beer cans, liquor bottles, wine bottles, everywhere.”

The day after the horrifying incident, Mr. Cox had the bright idea of checking social media to see if any local teenagers had talked about the illegal party on Facebook, Snapchat or Instagram. What Mr. Cox found was truly staggering.

“There’s video of 5, 6 kids on top of this counter top, squirting champagne all over my house,” said the furious Colorado man. Mr. Cox has continued to find more videos and pictures of the event, saving them onto his computer to future use as evidence.

While talking to CBS, Mr. Cox even admitted that things could have been even worse. “As bad as everything is, the party was still ramping up,” he said. “I’ve heard that more people were on the way. There could have been another few hundred here, from what I’ve heard.”

The incident has outraged and distressed both Mr. and Mrs. Cox. “Seeing these kids at my kitchen table where we eat, it just sent me over the top,” recalled Mr. Cox. “I was screaming at them. My wife was in tears. It was devastating.”

Mr. Cox isn’t going to take the flagrant abuse of his home lying down. Prior to the unwanted party, the Cox family were intending to list their home on the market and had already spent tens of thousands of dollars on renovations.

Mr. Cox and his wife hope that they can make up some portion of the money they have lost by taking the responsible parties to Court. “We’re going to go after them with everything we can legally to make this right,” he told CBS. “I want them prosecuted. I want them arrested. I want them to have to pay for the damage that they’ve done.”
