After Man Grumbled That His Partner Does 'Nothing' All Day, She Made This Video To Prove A Point

Stay-at-home moms, and moms who work part-time jobs so they can be home more to take care of the house and family, have long been treated like freeloaders. Because they don't have a job outside of the home, people assume they don't 'work', but anyone who takes care of kids and a house will tell you the work never stops. One woman made a timelapse video to show her partner what a day in her life is really like. It's exhausting just watching it.

Gemma Chalmers, a 35-year-old mom from Scotland, couldn't help being insulted when her partner grumbled that she does 'nothing all day'. The mom, who works part-time as a nail technician, spends most of her time running after the couple's busy two-year-old child, Kayle.

"My partner has started his own business and works a lot and doesn't really think I do much. I just thought: 'I'm going to prove him wrong,'" Chalmers later told The Mirror was the reason behind the film. And boy, did she ever.

In the morning, the video shows Chalmers tidying up the bedroom, making the bed and taking on the daunting task of dressing her toddler.

By 9:30 a.m., she's in the kitchen cleaning up after breakfast. and she then moves onto the playroom to clean up after her child. By 10:00 a.m. she manages to wrap Kayle in winter gear and the two head out the door.

Chalmers' first stop for the day is a baby gym so Kayle can get some exercise. She then gets him a snack and brings him home for nap time. Nap time is amusing, because Kayle must have gotten out of bed 10 times and had to be tucked in over and over.

While Kayle is napping, Chalmers folds the laundry and puts it away and wraps up some Christmas presents in the kitchen. She then takes a much-needed lunch break and gets to watch some television. The relaxation doesn't last long though, because she's back up and at it in Kayle's room to wake him up.

Kayle then gets his lunch as Chalmers runs around cleaning up and getting ready for his 'appointment time'. After Kayle's appointment, it's already getting dark. The two head home at around 4 p.m. and she plays with him for a while. Then it's changing time, tea time, and clean up time again.

All this occurs before Chalmers can get ready for work with a nail appointment. When work is done, she's back in the kitchen cooking dinner. After dinner, she resumes cleaning and puts Kayle to bed. Bedtime requires stories, cuddles, kisses and multiple efforts to keep the rambunctious youngster in place, but her day is done and she can finally relax.

She posted the video on Facebook with the following explanation, "All weekend my lovely partner has been moaning that I do nothing all day, so I thought I'd show him a full day . . . I actually find having a day of work more like a day off. So Mr. Jones, no more saying "enjoy your day off" or [asking] "what have you done all day?" because the answer is . . . I've been a mummy all day . . . Also a cleaner, a driver, a cook, a storyteller, a nurse, a playmate, a toddler wrestling coach, a teacher, an art director, a potty trainer, a champion tickler, a wardrobe stylist, a personal dresser, a laundry operator, a personal shopper, and [much] more."
