Expectant Mom Gets A Generous Surprise From Stranger On The Internet

In this day and age, the media seems to focus on a lot of negativity. On social media, people are constantly at each other's throats with snarky comments and angry rants. It is enough to make you forget that there are some genuine acts of kindness going on all the time. Most of the time we might miss it, but thankfully someone caught this good Samaritan’s good deed.

First-time mother-to-be Adriana Garcia, from Colorado, opened a thread on Reddit asking for help. The hard-working single mom doesn't have a lot of support, or a lot of money, so she was wondering what she should do. She also wanted to know if anyone knew where she could get some affordable prenatal vitamins and a breast pump.

"This will be my first pregnancy and with only two months left, I have no idea how to afford any baby stuff," she wrote in her post. "I wanted to have a baby shower, but I have no family or friends near me so I'd have to plan a baby shower for myself, pay for it, and probably just invite people from where I work and, well, being a manufacturer that works a night shift, I highly doubt any of them would come either. If anything, I really need a breast pump right and prenatal vitamins if anyone knows where I can get them for a decent price please!"

A lot of helpful tips from redditors came pouring in, but some people went above and beyond the call of message forum duty. The mom posted a follow-up post featuring a picture of a box full of pre-natal vitamins.

"Few days ago I posted on r/frugal where I can get help with pregnancy things like vitamins and such. Got a message from a kind stranger wanting to pay for my prenatal vitamins and they sent me a box full. They want to stay anonymous but thank you kind stranger so much! Literally cried like a baby," Garcia wrote.

Many people praised the anonymous donor for good deeds.

Unfortunately, others had to bring some negativity into the mix. A lot of people slammed Garcia for having a baby when she couldn't afford one. She spoke to Yahoo! about the incident.

"People really mix up what low income and being completely homeless is, and it's a shame," Garcia told Yahoo. "The thing about not making enough money, is that sometimes you can be completely fine and then events take place in someone's life, leaving them in debt and not making enough money to keep up. At five months pregnant, I was still making the same amount of money I was when things were a lot simpler."

There are some who say that if everyone waited until their life and finances were ideal before having a baby, almost no one would ever have a baby. People for centuries have been welcoming new members into their family, regardless of socio-economic status, filling their lives with the love of a child.

Despite the criticism, Garcia says that a lot of positive things came out of the post. Aside from the very nice, much-needed gift from the anonymous Reddit user, she got a lot of great advice and well wishes from posters in the thread. Overall, the experience reminded her more about the inherent goodness in humankind rather than the bad.
