Husband Died Before Wife Got To Tell Him She Was Pregnant - Then She Gets Shocking News

One couple met during a snowstorm in Illinois in 2011, and it was love at first sight. They went on to get married and start a family.

They had decided to add to the family when the woman got devastating news: her husband had been killed. She found out she was pregnant and told him at the wake.

She knew that somewhere, he was enjoying the surprise. A few weeks later, she got her own surprise.

Courtney Hill and her husband, Brian, a Navy Veteran, had been trying to get pregnant again. The two were so excited and couldn't wait for good news.

One morning they woke up and took a pregnancy test, only to be disappointed when it came back negative.

Later that day, Courtney got some devastating news. Brian passed away unexpectedly.

She was heartbroken, but within days she got some more news: the pregnancy test she took gave her a false negative. She was pregnant after all.

She went to her husband's wake and told him the news. Life without Brian was going to be hard, but she had that one, small consolation: the baby they both wanted so badly.

She had nothing left to do but to make the most of the situation.

Within a few weeks, Courtney didn't feel right. She was starting to get some pain and the pregnancy didn't feel like the last time she was pregnant.

She feared something was wrong. She thought she was going to have a miscarriage.

Courtney went to the doctor and braced herself for bad news, but it wasn't bad at all. She wasn't having a miscarriage - she was having triplets!

“My jaw DROPPED. I’m excited to have three more smiles that remind me of him,” Courtney said.

Unfortunately, it wasn't all good news. Some 25 weeks into her pregnancy, Courtney got another devastating blow.

One of the babies had died, the son she was going to name Brady. Again, she was struck with terrible grief.

“It caught me off guard,” Courtney said.

"I wasn’t expecting to hear that news at the ultrasound. It reminded me of the loss of my husband, with his loss came blessings.”

Thankfully, there were no further incidents. Harper and Miles were born healthy and happy, and the mom was doing well, too.

“I lost Brady but I was given two newborn babies who are healthy. Most triplets have weeks in intensive care," she said.

"Not in my case, everybody went home the next day. We have suffered, but we also have been blessed with little miracles,."

People always think the babies are twins, but Courtney tells people they're actually surviving triplets. A lot of people don't seem to get it, but to Courtney there is a big difference.

“I don’t expect people to know my story, that I had three heartbeats for 26 weeks, but it hurts when I hear ‘twins’ and I know in my heart that they are triplets.”

“To call them surviving triplets makes me happy because I know [Brady] gets credit he deserves,” she says.

Courtney plans to tell the babies about their dad, and about their brother. She's moving forward, trying to embrace the positive, but Brian and Brady will always be with the family.
