Melania Finds Herself Celebrating First Mother's Day As FLOTUS Without Her Husband

Melania Trump spent her first Mother's Day as First Lady of the United States with her family, but one member of her immediate family was oddly absent. President Donald Trump was absent from the family celebration. He didn't forget to wish her well, though. He tweeted the message, of course.

President and Mrs. Trump made a rare appearance together at the White House Mother's Day celebration for military spouses at the White House on Friday. Melania read some comments about her own experience as a mother, a role she holds in the highest regard.

“As everyone in this room knows, 'mother' is a title that claims your heart and changes your life forever,” The FLOTUS said. “In fact, it has been said that having a child means allowing your heart to walk around outside of your body. For the mothers of someone who has or is serving our country, this must be especially true.”

Melania, a very hands-on, doting mother, has put her 11-year-old son, Barron, before everything. she's put him before her duties as a first lady, before moving to Washington D.C. to join her husband in the White House, and even before the taxpaying U.S. citizens who are footing the enormous security bill so that Barron can finish out his school year and sports teams with his friends.

After the formal event, the first couple smiled and exchanged good-byes. Melania was back off to New York to spend the day 'with family' while Mr. Trump went off to do his own thing.

Trump tweeted on Sunday morning, "Wishing @FLOTUS Melania and all of the great mothers out there a wonderful day ahead with family and friends!"

Melania tweeted some pictures of herself and Barron, presumably back in Trump Tower (considering the gold gilded walls behind them), wearing matching outfits. They apparently spent the day without the man of the family.

You might wonder if Trump, being president, had some pressing business to tend to. Considering the messy state of the nation, it would not be surprising if a president selflessly put his family aside to deal with important government business. However, Trump decided to spend Mother's Day playing yet another game of golf. He was spotted at the Loudon County Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C.

To Trump, it seems, golf is the most urgent business there is; he’s made 21 trips in the short four months he’s been, president. Once again, Trump left Melania, and the country, behind.
