Mom Startled Baby is Born with Long Hair, Then Realizes Why

One mom in the UK says she has to keep a hat on her 2-month-old son when she takes him out to run errands, or she gets slowed down by all the attention. Her baby boy has such a bushy head of hair that he attracts attention wherever they go.

Junior Cox-Noon, at only 9 weeks old, already sprouted a grand head of hair. His hair is so full and thick that his mother, Chelsea Noon, 32, has to blow dry it or it takes hours to dry.

"He came out with loads of hair. I didn’t realize how much until he had his first bath," said Noon to the MailOnline. "All the midwives and health visitors said it would fall out because baby hair usually comes out when they rub their head on the back of the cot, but he hasn’t lost any of it and it has grown."

By an amazing stroke of luck, Noon is a hairstylist, so she's well qualified to tame her baby boy's luxurious locks. After a blow-drying session, the little guy looks like he's wearing a 'That Girl' wig. People who remember the 70's will remember the signature bouffant of star Marlo Thomas.

"When I take him with me on the weekly shop in Asda everyone does a double-take and says, 'Oh my God, look at the baby’s hair,' and they have to touch it. He doesn’t seem to mind and gets a little a smirk on his face," Noon explains. "People say to me are you going to cut it, but it’s too unique so I’m going to leave it as it is."

Noon claims she knew Junior was going to have a good head of hair because she had a lot of heartburn when she was pregnant. As it turns out, the old wives' tale is true; heartburn does signify a baby with a full head of hair is coming.

This is not because hair causes heartburn (as previously thought), but because the same hormones that increase heartburn in the mother, increase hair growth for the baby.
