Mother Shocked to Learn What Teacher Trades Students for Lollipops

A little girl at a Florida charter school kept coming home with lollipops in her bag. Her mother thought she was getting them for doing good work in class, but the little girl explained they were a reward. The teacher offered students candy to give her a massage.

Crystal Leon, the third-grader's mother, contacted the Port St. Lucie school to find out what was happening. At one point, she discovered the teacher in question even pulled Leon's daughter out of class to give her a rub-down.

“She came into my daughter’s classroom and asked her teacher, ‘Hey, I need her for five minutes,’” Leon explained to WPBF 25. “Then she brought [my daughter] into an empty classroom, and said her students gave her headache and needed a massage. [My daughter] gave her a neck and back massage and she sent her back to class.”

The Renaissance Charter School said they suspended the teacher, but two days later their investigation was over and the teacher was back at work. Leon wasn't satisfied. She took to Facebook.

“Other parents are contacting me that they questioned their child and their children have also been giving massages for lollipops,” Leon said.

The worried mother contacted the Department of Children and Families and the local police to complain. An official investigation has now been opened.

So far there have been no charges or arrests, and police are not sure if the teacher is actually guilty of any crimes.
