Mother Thrown In Jail After Keeping Her Kids Locked Up In Kennels

Kristal Richard has acknowledged that she’s not going to win any awards in the parenting department. She should have at least been more proactive about bringing this to the attention of others before she subjected her children to unfathomable conditions.

As the Independent Journal Review shares, the Shrewsbury, West Virginia resident has been arrested for confining her children to makeshift kennels.

Joel Richard, the boy’s father, noticed something was amiss. The couple had separated and filed for divorce, and he hadn’t been to her house in awhile. Something rubbed him the wrong way the last time he saw his boys, ages five and two.

“They were very clingy. They held on to me, especially my youngest boy,” he said.

Cops would go to check on the house, and they would be shocked at what they found. The older child was relegated to a small room with a gate and mesh door, while the toddler was locked in a box that was made of plywood and a tarp. Neither of the kids had bedding or access to a bathroom, and they were both stark naked when the officers came calling.

“The way that these children were pinned up, caged up, however you want to say it. It was the worst I'd ever seen, bar none. No bedding, no bed, no mattress, feces scattered all over the wall. Horrible conditions,” said Trooper N.M. Manolakos of the West Virginia State Police.

Kristal acknowledged to the officers that she wasn’t fit to raise the kids and that it wasn’t the best idea to lock them up. You think? There’s zero excuse for the children to be raised in such conditions, and she can mull that over even further now that she’s sitting behind bars.

“I never thought in a million years that something like this would ever happen ... She's not the same person that I married six years ago. It's hard to believe any of this has happened, and I find myself at times saying is this real,” Joel continued.

While this was undoubtedly shocking for Joel, he could’ve taken the step of doing a little pop over after the kids became so clingy with him. That’s a gigantic red flag that’s something bugging a child pretty badly, and parents need to jump on those signs to figure out what the problem is.
