Two parents got busted when drive-thru window staff became suspicious about them. Kids in the back seat told police about the heartbreaking situation.
Tiffany A Tinkham and Lance A. Hillier went through a Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru window with their kids in the car. It became quickly apparent to the drive-thru window staff that these people were not fit to drive-- or to have children.
Tinkham was passed out in the passenger seat, the heroin needle still sticking out of her arm. Hiller was so stoned that he fell asleep at the drive-thru window. The employee had to shout to wake him up.
As soon as they made their purchase, Hillier sped away. The Dunkin' Donut crew called 911 and described the car. A short while later, the car was pulled over by police.
Inside the vehicle, police found that Tinkham was in possession of the prescription drug Suboxone and also was carrying a plastic bag with less than an ounce of marijuana.
“Mommy has to use needles all the time," one of the kids in the back seat explained to the officer. "She tells us to close our eyes or look out the window when she uses them, but I never do….Daddy has to drive all the time because Mommy is sick.”
The two were charged with operating under the influence of drugs, reckless endangerment of a child, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, along with a few other drug and driving charges.
The children have been placed in the care of family members, who hopefully can provide a better standard of care than these parents.
