Actress Helen Mirren Blasts Melania And Ivanka In Savage Attack

Opposition to President Donald trump is a pretty common theme these days, as there are many folks out there that aren’t picking up what the commander-in-chief is putting down. Trump inspires a ton of passion in both directions, and those that are vehemently opposed to him aren’t shy about sharing their thoughts with the world. There’s some collateral damage in that regard as well, as Trump’s family has become fair game in the minds of critics.

Whether that’s fair and just or not is certainly open for debate, but there’s no changing the fact that Trump’s children have become a large part of the overall discussion. Ivanka Trump has been perhaps the biggest lightning rod of the president’s offspring, as she’s the one that’s closest to the administration. Critics of the commander-in-chief constantly call her out as if she’s personally responsible for her father’s actions. Deep breaths and perspective tell us otherwise, but the narrative persists.

As the Daily Mail shares, Ivanka also gets called out for her own actions and remarks on the regular. One of the latest examples comes from actress Helen Mirren, who wasn’t too keen on a passage in Ivanka’s book, ‘Women Who Work.’

“[Ivanka] talks a good game, but there’s no substance. Her book is so ignorant about how the majority of women live, talking about, 'Make time for yourself to have a massage.' Puh-lease,” she said.

Mirren’s a fantastic actress and all, but that seems a little harsh. However, the book did receive some pretty horrible reviews, so perhaps there’s something to the no substance thing. The First Lady was also in Mirren’s sight lines.

“You look at old Mel there, and she is one of the most powerful women in the world because she could take him down,” she said. “I'm Eastern European, you know; [we've] got these dark souls. That dark Slovenian soul is about to come out. She's only got to do a nice interview with Allure.”

Ouch. On some much lighter notes, Mirren touched on her younger days.

“I wasn’t into the very didactic feminism of the '60s and '70s because I liked wearing makeup and high heels. That was a no-no. It was sort of 'That’s playing to the patriarchy,'" Mirren said.
“I was thinking, 'Well, I just really like it.' Then as feminism developed, they realized you can like nice dresses, high-heeled shoes, and makeup. That’s not stopping you from being feminist.”

It was back to Trump from that point, and this time Mirren offered up some comments on the commander-in-chief.

“[Trump] just said and did whatever it took to get what he desired. That is quite terrifying, because it means there's a lack of morality there and a lack of conscientiousness,” she said.

It’s pretty clear that Mirren is no fan of the First Family. She’s certainly entitled to her opinion, and she’s not the only one in that camp. However, few folks would like to go through life constantly being judged for the actions of the most famous member of the family as opposed to on their own merits. Food for thought, but we won’t expect it to change things anytime soon.
