After Mom Posts Punishment For Teen Daughter On Facebook, Police Investigate

A woman took to Facebook to post images of her teen daughter, after the girl had been 'punished' by her father and stepmother. The photos show the girl, hiding her face, after she'd been forcefully given an extremely short haircut by her dad.

Apparently, the father and stepmother didn't like the teen's new 'do. After the pictures were posted, authorities stepped in.

Christin Johnson lives in Fostoria, Ohio with her 13-year-old daughter, Kelsey. She was furious when Kelsey recently came back from a visit with her father, Schaffen Frederick, and stepmother, Sarah Murray.

Kelsey had gotten highlights in her hair, with Johnson's permission. Frederick and Murray weren't happy about the choice and forced the young girl to sit as her dad chopped all her hair off into a boyish style.

Johnson took to Facebook and posted images of Kelsey.

"This is what my daughter looked like Sunday when I took her home and the other two pics is what happened today before she was brought to me," Johnson wrote. "All over me having highlights put in her hair for her birthday!"

In the earlier photo, Kelsey's highlights on her long, blonde hair were extremely subtle. The latter photos shows her hair trimmed practically to her scalp.

The post went viral and comments came pouring in from enraged viewers.

"So very sad. Kelsey will never be able to trust her dad again," said one poster, who said the young girl probably expected her dad to compliment her on her pretty hair. "Sadly, she's now wearing a wig."

"This is emotional abuse," one person said.

Some have gone on the social media pages of Frederick and Murray to harass them.

"Aww it's so nice having long hair isn't it?" one commenter asked Murray.

"Lucky she lives out of state, I would love to shave her head myself," said another angry commenter.

The shocking photos were eventually brought to the attention of the Haskins Police Department, and officers went to investigate. According to Police Chief Colby Carroll, Kelsey's mom has now filed a formal complaint with the department. They are investigating 'potential child abuse'.

“I’ve been doing this since ’92 and I’ve never had a case I would say that’s like this,” said Carroll in an interview with Fox News 4.

Murray and Frederick are both volunteer firefighters in the Middleton Township Fire Department. They've both been placed on leave over the incident, pending the results of the investigation.

Both Murray and Frederick have been silent on the matter and are refusing to answer questions. Johnson says stylists from Lady Jane's in Toledo heard about Kelsey's story and have helped to fit her with a new, attractive wig that she can use until her hair grows back.

"I'd like to thank the ladies at Lady Jane's on Glendale in Toledo, OH for making my baby feel more like herself!" Said Johnson in a shout out. "Especially Haylee Ann for taking her to pick out her new hair. She got her smile back because of you ladies and your selfless acts of kindness!"

"We truly appreciate you ladies so much! Haylee, you are the best God mother to Kelsey and the bond you two share is incredible, we love you so much!"
