Woman's Parrot Reveals She Killed Husband

A woman was found guilty of a terrible crime, but it was who revealed her actions that's truly shocking. Apparently, she and her husband had a pet, a talking parrot named Bud. The talking parrot was in the home and is a living recording of the events that unfolded on the tragic day that the woman killed her husband.

According to reports, the Michigan man's parrot repeated the husband's last words: "Don't f--king shoot."

Glenna Duram, a 49-year-old Newaygo County woman, was convicted of killing her husband, 46-year-old Martin Duram. The event was part of a botched murder-suicide, in which Glenna shot her husband and attempted to shoot herself.

She survived the shooting, but her husband didn’t. According to reports, the couple's pet parrot overheard the man's last word and continues to repeat them.

Mrs. Duram shot her husband five times before she turned the gun on herself. Her defense team tried to argue that the woman, who had been on medication, was not in her right mind at the time of the shooting.

After Mr. Duram's shooting and Glenna's arrest, their pet parrot was given to a new owner. The owner was stunned when the parrot uttered in a chilling tone, "Don't f--king shoot!"

The parrot speaks the phrase over and over, mimicking the slow and desperate tone of voice being used at the time it picked up the phrase. The comment was reportedly picked up by the bird from Mr. Durham just before he was killed by his wife.

The new owner recorded the bird shouting the phrase, and the prosecutor requested that it be entered into evidence.

Martin's parents are convinced that the bird was replaying their son's last moments alive. The request to enter the man's last words into evidence was denied by the judge, but it’s still a testimony that brings chills.

"That bird picks up everything and anything, and it's got the filthiest mouth around," said Glenna to the BBC, dismissing the bird’s words.

The bird's testimony wasn't ultimately needed in order for the prosecution to secure a conviction. The trial lasted for 10 days, and the jury deliberated for about eight hours before returning a guilty verdict. Glenna had a minor outburst when the verdict was read.

She made a gesture in the courtroom and mouthed something, looking angry.

Two years after Glenna was accused of shooting her husband, she was convicted of murder. She's slated to be sentenced in August.

For Martin's grieving parents, there is little consolation, even if justice is served. The long legal process was draining, and in the end it doesn’t change the fact that a man was killed, and families were destroyed.

"It just isn't good; just isn't good. Two years is a long time to wait for justice," said Martin’s mother in an interview with the BBC. "To sit there and watch her be emotionless... kind of hurt too."

"I feel hurt that both families had to go through this, ‘cause we both used to be close and go camping together," she added.
