George Clooney Comes Clean About Who's Living In His Home

In a recent interview, George Clooney revealed that he's had an unexpected guest in one of his homes.

The refugee crisis continues to rage, as conservatives and liberals continue to argue whether refugees should be accepted in America. Many liberal celebrities have been using their public platform, and have been very outspoken about the country living up to its values of sheltering ‘your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free’.

Conservatives, meanwhile, have scoffed at the idea of taking in more refugees, and at those who propose we do so. Some conservatives say if celebrities feel so strongly about taking in refugees, they should open their homes to some.

It turns out, at least one has.

George Clooney is one of the many Hollywood stars who has been outspoken in condemning the current administration turning a blind eye to desperate refugees from war-torn nations. But Clooney proved he isn't speaking out of his hat.

He and his wife have taken a refugee from Iraq into their home.

Clooney and his Muslim wife, Amal, a human right's lawyer, have admitted to the Hollywood Reporter that they took in a refugee who was threatened by ISIS terrorists in Mosul because he wanted to go to college.

The man was on a bus when jihadists shot the two drivers and threatened to shoot others if they had any aspirations of pursuing higher education.

The unnamed man ended up in Lake Como, Italy, where the Clooneys have a residence.

"He survived and came to America. He got through all the checks, and once he got through those, it was like, 'Listen, we got your back. You want to get an education? You want to move your life forward? This is something that we can do,'" said Clooney.

The 56-year-old actor won't say how long the refugee has been staying at his home in Augusta, Kentucky, nor will he say how long the man plans to say. He has said that the man is now a student at the University of Chicago.

This is not the first time the Clooneys have done something to help refugees. The Clooney Foundation for Justice partnered with Google, HP and UNICEF last year to open schools for more than 3,000 children in Lebanon.

"Our goal with this initiative is to help provide Syrian refugee children with an education and put them on a path to be the future leaders their generation desperately needs," read a statement from the foundation.

Amal represented a human rights activist who had been kidnapped by ISIS and forced into sex slavery. The 39-year-old has also been very active in supporting the UN to put terrorist groups on trial.

"Not one ISIS militant has faced trial for international crimes anywhere in the world. Why is it that nothing has been done?" she said.

"I can not understand why you are letting ISIS get away with it. I ask the Iraqi government and the U.N. to establish an investigation and give all the victims of ISIS the justice they deserve. Don't let this be another Rwanda where you regret doing too little, too late."

The Clooneys are putting their money where their mouths are, and hopeful that will shut the mouths of some who think it would be better to leave innocent people in danger.
