Halle Berry Reveals Truth About What Happened To Her

Halle Berry has been making the rounds promoting her new film ‘Kidnap,’ and it sounds like she has another hit on her hands. While she’s back in the spotlight for another star turn, she’s also turning some heads over some candid comments she’s offered up during interviews. As the Daily Mail shares, she shared some intimate details on her humble beginnings as an actress, and it’s flat-out amazing how far she’s come.

Berry recalled how things were for her as a struggling young actress in New York City, and she noted that she actually spent some time in a homeless shelter. Some tough love from her mom helped spark the flames even more.

“That was rough. I called my mother and asked her to send me some money, and she said no, and that led to a year of not speaking, but that's probably one of the best things she did for me,” Berry recalled. “She said, 'If you want to be there, then you work it out'. Giving up was never an option. Shelter life was part of figuring it out for a minute until I could get a waitressing job. Then I got a bartending job, and until I could figure that out, that’s what I did.”

The spark stayed lit, and Berry has gone on to become an incredibly successful actress. While the struggles of her youth are in the rear-view mirror, the struggles of her love life are still going strong. She’s also opened up about that fact, and she made some veiled references to the fact that she knows she’s judged from afar over the relationships that haven’t worked out.

“I had so many fears as I went through my third divorce. I was afraid to do that, but I was more afraid of living unhappy. It's teaching me: Don't be afraid of what people will think about the choices you make. We have to live for ourselves,” Berry notes. “I'm just with my kids and I'm really taking time to think and reflect, and trying to figure out how to make different choices and just have a minute to be with myself.”

That sounds like the right approach. It’s easy to keep getting back on the merry go round when relationships hit the skids, but sometimes it makes a lot more sense to figure out exactly what you want before diving back into the water. As for her new film, Berry notes how it really struck a chord for her.

“It's every mom, every parent's worst nightmare. So it's real. It's real for all of us. What would you do if you saw your child snatched before your eyes - close enough to see but too far to do anything about it? What would you really do?” she said. “I think like my character, every mom would go far.”

Sounds like another in a long line of must-see films from Berry, and it’ll be interesting to see how much traction this one gets.
