Here's What Meghan Markle Got The Queen For Christmas

When couples agree to tie the knot, it’s quite clear that their lives are going to be very different moving forward.

Whether they live together or not beforehand is irrelevant. The act of saying ‘I do’ still carries a ton of weight and points to a hopefully indelible bond that will last a lifetime.

The couple will never be thought of separately again, as they are essentially joined at the hip whenever thoughts turn to one or the other.

As for the couple themselves, a ton of changes can be afoot. For example, new traditions will be formed that are exclusive to the couple, but there’s still the little matter of divvying up the holiday traditions when it comes to the extended family.

Since both parties are already well accustomed to spending the holidays with their own brood, it can be a little jarring to be exposed to a whole new way of doing things.

As such, tensions can rise around the holiday season, and it’s not all that uncommon for even the strongest couples to have some tiffs here and there about where to spend the holidays. Quite simply, it can be downright nerve-wracking to spend a special occasion with a roomful of people that you don’t know all that well, especially when you have the feeling that you’re the outsider that everyone has their eyes on.

And that’s just for regular folks. Imagine what it’s like when you’re the outsider that’s about to crack the ranks of the Royal Family.

That’s the situation that Meghan Markle finds herself in now that her engagement to Prince Harry has set the world aflutter. While the couple may seem to be an awesome fit for each other, it’s still not too hard to envision Markle having a bit of anxiety as Christmas approached.

After all, what does one get a Queen for Christmas?

As the Daily Mail shares, it sounds like Markle knocked it out of the park on that front. It looks like Markle subscribed to the theory of simpler is better, and she decided that humor was the way for her to warm the Queen’s heart.

She would present Her Majesty with a singing toy hamster. Yes, really.

It was a risky move, but it sounds like it paid off in a big way. Reports indicate that the Queen was in ‘hysterics’ at the funny little gift.

“Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty,” a source said.

“It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy. She (the Queen) laughed and said 'they can keep my dogs company!'"

As for the rest of the family, it sounds like Markle fit right in with the rest of the Royal gang. Prince Harry himself noted that his fiancee’s visit was a smashing success.

“The family loved having her there. There's always that family part of Christmas (where) there's always that work element there as well, and I think together we had an amazing time,” he said.

“We had great fun staying with my brother and sister-in-law and running round with the kids. Christmas was fantastic.”

It’s good to see that the future spouses managed to get the first holiday season out of the way without any drama, and we wish them many more years of the same.
