Here's Why Prince Harry Holds Hands With His Mate - While Prince William Doesn't

Many clues can be gleaned from the way that a couple interacts with each other in public, but there are also times when those so-called clues will lead you down a dead end. You can clearly tell that some couples are quite into each other by how they act. A sly glance here, a little smile there, an inability to be around the other without touching them in some way are among the major signs, and those couples generally seem like they’ve found a good match in the love department. Either that, or they do a really good job of covering up their relationship woes. Then there’s the couple on the opposite end of the spectrum.

The ones that keep their distance from each other in social settings and rarely speak a word to each other. Is that a clear sign of trouble in paradise? It certainly can be, but it can also just be a sign of a pair of people that are awkward in social settings. For all we know, they could be closer than peanut butter and jelly when they get home. Of course, there’s also the possibility that they really can’t stand each other and are praying for the right time to break up, but that’s another story for another day.

In any event, those clues and signs are a veritable cottage industry, and there’s plenty of body language experts out there that would love to tell you what it all means. In fact, one of them did just that while using a pair of Royal couples as an example. It seems that Prince Harry is none too shy about holding hands with his girlfriend, Meghan Markle, while Prince William and Kate do not. So what does all of that mean? Body language expert Robin Kermode has the answers.

“Some public figures use hand-holding as a deliberate act to prove that their relationship is solid, but this isn't something Prince William and Kate struggle with. It is very clear that William and Kate are emotionally close, however, they do not seem to feel the need to prove their love – particularly when on official state business,” he said. “They come across as a strong, independent couple and while they are always on show, they do not feel the need to 'show' their love for each other to the world.”

Ah-ha! So the fairytale remains in effect in spite of the fact that they give off different vibes in public? Who would’ve thought that this was possible? In all seriousness, that perfectly demonstrates the fact that some couples just behave differently when out in public. Using the awkward couple from above as an example, some folks just feel that it’s off-putting to be all over each other in public settings - or giving off the vibe that they are somehow unprofessional if it’s in a social setting related to work.

While their behavior makes for a fantastic talking point when others run out of things to talk about, the fact remains that we can only speculate as to what’s really going on in their worlds. Unless one tells the other one off in front of everyone else, that is. We can take that as a clear sign that there might be some problems afoot.
