Looks Like This Truly Is The End For President Trump

It’s hard to believe that it hasn’t even been seven months since President Donald Trump was sworn into office. It feels like a ton has happened during that timeframe, and the general electorate remains more engaged with political happenings than they traditionally are in the wake of an election. Call it the ‘Trump’ effect, and we’ve seen it metastasize in a number of different ways. While the president has a strong base of supporters that love him, there’s an equally vocal group that’s not so keen on him. In fact, there are many folks that want him out of office completely.

So what does that mean in terms of raw numbers? A recent Quinnipiac University Poll pegged Trump’s approval rating at a stunningly low 33 percent. As Opposing Views shares, there wasn’t much good news for Trump in that poll at all.

“The poll also revealed that 62 percent think Trump is not honest, 59 percent say he does not care about average Americans, and 63 percent think he does not share their values. In addition, 69 percent believe he should stop tweeting,” Opposing Views reports.

Ouch. For Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll, the picture is pretty clear.

"It's hard to pick what is the most alarming number in the troubling trail of new lows for President Donald Trump," he said. "Profound embarrassment over his performance in office and deepening concern over his level-headedness have to raise the biggest red flags. The daily drip drip of missteps and firings and discord are generating a tidal wave of bad polling numbers."

Alright, so how many people just want him out of office already? A lot.

“Forty-two percent of those surveyed were in favor of impeachment, and the same percentage was opposed to impeachment,” Opposing Views adds.

David Moore, iMediaEthics Polling Director, offered up his interpretation of the results.

"These results suggest that Trump is probably the most beleaguered first-term president in the country's history, and certainly in modern history," he said.

Rep. Adam B. Schiff of California, the senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, notes that folks are jumping the gun when talking about impeachment proceedings.

"No one ought to, in my view, rush to embrace the most extraordinary remedy that involves the removal of the president from office," he said.

Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont notes that we should wait and see how all the investigations play out.

"What needs to happen is that we have got to go forward with an absolutely bipartisan investigation. The public must understand this is not a Democratic issue," he said.

While the polls paint a bleak picture for Trump, it should be noted that the polls painted a bleak picture for his presidential prospects as well. That proved to be a monumental miscalculation, so it’s always wise to take poll numbers with a grain of salt as opposed to treating them as gospel. That being said, it doesn’t take a pollster to know that there are plenty of people out there that are unhappy with Trump. Whether he can stem that tide remains unclear.
