Melania Trump's Wardrobe For Tour Of Asia May Be Higher Than Your Annual Salary

It's hard to imagine having wealth like the Trumps appear to have. For many people, $42,000 is an annual salary. For others who are a little better off, it might be a down payment on a house or the price of their dream car. For a young student, it could be a year or two worth of college tuition. For Melania Trump, it's apparently six days’ worth of travel wardrobe.

Mrs. Trump joined President Donald Trump on a visit to Asia, and in six days she has put on an impressive fashion show. She's been compared to former First Lady and fashion icon, Jackie Onassis, for her eye-catching looks. And it shouldn't be surprising, considering the price tag for her outfits.

The Trumps arrived in Asia on November 5 and started their tour in Japan. Melania wore a Fendi coat that retails for $4,800. At the state dinner, she stunned with a $4,900 Valentino gown. The dress was conservative yet curve-hugging, bearing her arms.

When the Trumps headed to South Korea, she wore her most expensive outfit on the trip. The $12,500 black sequined and lace J. Mendel dress made headlines. The sheer lace overlay flashed ample skin and bosom. Dubbed the 'naked dress', it was a bit risqué for the FLOTUS to wear when dining with President Joon Jae-in, but admittedly she pulled it off elegantly.

Also in South Korea, Melania was spotted walking around with Korean pop star, Choi Min-ho, aka Minho. The First Lady made a surprise appearance at Girl's Play 2, an event campaigning to give girls equal access to sports. She was in a beautiful Jesus Del Pozo plum overcoat, which retails for $4,100. It was paired with shocking blue $675 Louboutin heels. Too bad that, next to Minho, not many people were interested in looking at Melania.

The Trumps then jetted to China where they met with President Xi Jinping. Melania donned a black silk traditional Chinese cheongsam dress by Gucci. The outfit caused a bit of a stir for cultural appropriation of Asian tradition, and many said it looked too 'costume-like' to be respectful.

All totaled, with shoes, The Sun calculates Mrs. Trump's wardrobe for the trip comes in at about $42,000, a shocking sticker for the majority of Americans. Her predecessor, Michelle Obama, had a much more relatable wardrobe. Mixing high fashion with items found at stores like J. Crew, her outfits usually rang up in the hundreds rather than the thousands, but Michelle didn’t need to spend ungodly amounts of money to look stylish. She became a fashion icon in her own right.

This might actually be Melania showing restraint, however. Remember earlier this year when the Trumps went abroad to Europe. At that time Melania got slammed for wearing a $51,000 Dolce & Gabbana jacket, and many people slammed the wealthy FLOTUS for being too showy. Perhaps Melania thinks of this wardrobe as being understated.
