Member Of Voice Cast Suffers Unimaginable Tragedy

A former 'The Voice' contestant is mourning a massive and shocking loss. His one-year-old daughter reportedly passed away after a freak car accident. The father attempted to save the baby by throwing his body in the way. The dad says he's devastated.

The Black family is trying to make sense of the senseless loss of their beautiful, big-eyed one-year-old daughter, Pearl, who died in an accident on the way home from the playground on Sunday. The tot and her brother were on the way home from the park with dad, 49-year-old Paul Black, when a handbrake failed on a Range Rover.

The vehicle sped down a steep hill and as the out-of-control car approached, Black threw his body in the way to try and protect his daughter. He suffered from some serious injuries but was unable to stop the vehicle. His son also suffered some minor injuries.

Pearl's injuries were extensive and she was flown by air ambulance to a hospital in South Wales. Despite all efforts to save the baby, she passed away the next day.

Black is best known for his performance on 'The Voice’ two years ago, and his Sinatra-esque rendition of 80's Van Halen song, 'Jump'. Though the judges snubbed him, he was a crowd favorite with his unique, old-school style. Many people complained that the judges, who did not turn their chairs around for him in the blind audition, were turned off by the fact that he was an older man rather than a young potential pop star.

Black, a tattoo artist, has a love for music. He plays with an Elvis tribute band and jokes that he is the son of Welsh star Tom Jones.

After the accident, Mr. Black took to Twitter to report, “My life is on hold indefinitely. Thank you for all the kind thoughts and messages."

He followed up with the tweet, “I’m a broken man. Our beautiful family has been savaged.”

Pearl's mother, 37-year-old Gemma Black, is reportedly 'devastated' in the wake of the tragedy and has been unable to comment. An official statement from the family reads, “Pearl was every single star in every single sky, she was as bright as the stars, when she looked at you with those eyes and she would melt your heart.

“She was the reddest pearl in the ocean and the sweetest melody ever written.

“She was the greatest dancer and she has left a massive hole in our hearts, the world will be a darker place without her. She was the reason we all lived.”

A sad neighbor reported seeing Black standing at the corner where the accident occurred. The neighbor noted that the community was eerily quiet after the tragic accident.

Another neighbor said of Pearl, "She was such a gorgeous little girl with the most beautiful big brown eyes – it’s heartbreaking. The whole street has been in tears, Pearl was going to be a star like her dad.”
