Report Claims 'Second Lady' Karen Pence Detests Donald Trump

A brand new article in the Atlantic suggests that extremely religious Vice President Mike Pence might be playing the “long game” in looking to eventually replace crass, religious-by-convenience President Donald Trump.

Of note, according to the article, the VP’s wife Karen Pence is also not a big fan of President Trump. Sources close to the power couple say that Mike was “genuinely shocked” by the famous Access Hollywood tape that leaked before the election last fall.

The tape showed Trump talking with co-host Billy Bush about grabbing women by their private parts. An ex-Trump Campaign aide says that Karen was “disgusted” by Trump’s behavior in the tape.

As a deeply religious man, Pence was supposedly "beside himself" over Trump's comments on the tape.

The source noted that Karen felt that Trump was "reprehensible - just totally vile"

It seems that Trump told Pence early on in their relationship that he was a man of God, and that his TV image was really just for show. The article highlights that Trump left a voicemail for Pence the evening of the vice presidential debate telling his running mate he had just prayed for him.

Religion is the key issue that binds Trump and Pence. During the presidential campaign last year, Pence frequently addressed audiences saying he had just hung up with Trump, and that Donald told Pence to tell the crowd hello. Of interest, Pence almost always gave a knowing chuckle to the crowd after delivering this line, almost as if everyone in the crowd shared the secret about Pence’s boss and the emperor’s new clothes.

That said, Pence has served as an obedient deputy to Trump since they arrived triumphantly in Washington DC, acting like a man who believed in his position as the second highest in command of the nation. Moreover, as a good Christian, he is willing to serve under a man who calls violent white nationalists “very fine people” if it advances the greater good.

Both the religious right and moderate Christians consider Pence a man who lines up on the right side of almost all their important social issues, especially with his vocal anti-abortion beliefs. The article in the Atlantic describes Pence’s transformation from a “fat little kid” with ego issues into a thoughtfully religious man who loyally serves the president.

The article also points out the irony in Pence’s religious conversion from Catholic Democrat to right-wing born-again Christian witnessing a testimony as a college student to his current deference to a crude, self-centered narcissist like Trump. But is it just irony or is there something else beneath the surface here?

According to at least one ex-friend of Pence’s, his ambition could well be a cover buried in religiosity. Who knows what lurks beneath the placid surface of a man like Mike Pence? He could well be playing the long game, betting that he can outlast Trump when the political winds shift in the future.
